Lucky man rescued after almost being runned over by train!!!

A video has just been released showing the dangerous rescue of a man who fell onto Metrorail tracks in a station outside Washington, according to The Washington Post.

After the man fell and appeared dazed, another man raced across two tracks, gingerly stepping on the cover of the electrified third rail.

In the surveillance video, obtained by ARLnow, a man later identified as Dimas Pinzon leaps over the Virginia Square tracks in Arlington, then tries to help another man who stumbled onto the trackbed just as a train was approaching.

"I saw that the train was slowing down, and I saw the guy standing up and he was wobbling around, so it was like, this guy's going to fall back or something bad is going to happen," Pinzon told ARLnow. "I just said to hell with it, someone's gotta get to him."

These two so called rescuers are not hereos because as you can clearly see from the video they were pretenders trying to take credit for a rescue that was beforehand because the train had stopped and nowhere near the victim. It was only after that, that they acted like fake heroes by jumping in to save the poor man, especially the second guy who jumped in the tracks as if he found some money in the tracks or probably the hero bell rang in his head or as if he was going to receive some kind off reward for his fake heroism!!!

A Cincinnati woman is accused of robbing a man at gunpoint — her own husband. Police said Stephanie Fall pointed a gun at her husband, Modou Fall, on Sunday afternoon and demanded money. Officers said Stephanie Fall threatened to shoot her husband if he didn’t comply.

No word on if she actually got any money from the act, but if so, she can probably use it to post some of her own bail.

Topless 61-year-old woman attacks cops with meat cleaver!!!

This might be the most terrifying story I’ve ever heard since it involves not only someone coming at Portland police with a meat cleaver, but a topless elderly woman wielding the instrument. Halloween has come early.

Police arrived to check on 61-year-old Phyllis Lasich after receiving reports from neighbors that the woman had been acting very strange, reportedly “outside the apartment completely naked and shouting nonsense.”

When police arrived, they heard a loud crashing noise within the apartment, only to be greeted by Lasich wielding a meat clever and yelling that she was going to kill the officers.

The officer most threatened by Lasich drew his weapon while another pointed a taser at her, but the woman refused to drop the knife.

Lasich swung the meat cleaver at them before eventually lying down on the ground and going with the officers’ commands. She then told officers, “Thank God you are here! They’ve been coming to kill me all day!”

You’ve got admire the police officers for their courage in the face of such a crazy situation. I’m not a police officer and if any 61-year-old topless woman approached me, I’d probably run away screaming in horror. She wouldn’t even have to be wielding a meat cleaver. Her saggy breasts, withered ovaries, and dashed dreams are more than enough of a weapon to keep me at bay.

William Atwood Sr. was far from pleased when he learned that Justin had sent his 17-year-old daughter pictures of his member. Much to his creative credit, William managed to lure Justin to their home and that’s when the real fun started. William, armed with a shotgun and a handgun, told Justin to strip down to his skivvies before tying him to a chair and repeatedly shocking him with a stun gun, all the while threatening to bury him on the Pechanga Indian Reservation. After about an hour, William handed over Justin to the police, saying that the 24-year-old had trespassed onto his property. Needless to say when police found out what really went down, they weren’t exactly rushing to William’s defense.

The doting father is now heading to trial for his actions. So fellas make sure she’s overage (or at least doesn’t have a psychotic father) before showing off your pecker.

Native American Farmers Win $680M in Discrimination Suit!!!

The Obama administration has agreed to pay $680 million to Native American farmers who claimed the government denied them the same low-interest rate loans given to white farmers between 1981 and 2007.

The farmers filed a class-action lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Agriculture 11 years ago. Under a settlement announced Tuesday, eligible farmers and ranchers can get up to $250,000 each if they can prove the USDA caused them economic losses, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack told The Wall Street Journal. But most farmers will likely opt for a $50,000 payment that requires less paperwork.

The lawsuit, Keepseagle v. Vilsack, was named for a North Dakota farmer Marilyn Keepseagle, who said the settlement would "help thousands of Native Americans who are still farming and ranching."

"But more important, through this settlement we will leave to our children and grandchildren a farm loan system far more responsive to our community than the system we inherited from our parents," she told The Oklahoman newspaper.

The American Indians' lawsuit has long been overshadowed by similar complaints from black farmers. The Obama administration reached a $1.25 billion settlement with those black farmers last February, but Congress has yet to allocate the money.

The USDA has been subject to several discrimination lawsuits in recent years over allegations of racism in its farm loan programs. The issue flashed into the national spotlight over the summer, when USDA employee Shirley Sherrod was forced to resign after an edited video clip suggested she didn't fully help a white farmer in 1986 because of his race. Sherrod is black.

The Native Americans' settlement includes an additional $80 million of debt forgiveness and $20 million in administrative fees, Bloomberg said. It still has to be approved by a federal district court, and a hearing is set for Oct. 29.

69-Year-Old Grandma Shoots Intruder With Her .38 Special!!

It was 3 a.m. when a robber decided to invade 69-year-old Ethel Jones’ home. The Decatur, Ga. grandmother told the Decatur Daily she heard the intruder at her back door and then her front, and she thought someone was trying to get inside. The robber eventually removed an air conditioner from a window to gain access to Jones’ home. But he picked the wrong lady to rob.

Jones sleeps with a loaded .38 pistol under a pillow next to her when she is home alone. Jones saw the intruder when she walked out of her bathroom. She says he was holding a pen light near her bedroom. “I shot three times and he ran away hollering,” said Jones, who used to go to target practice with her former husband.

Police quickly determined that 18-year-old Michael O’Neal Bynum, a neighbor of Jones’, was a suspect. He is in stable condition at the hospital after being treated for a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Bynum was on probation for a previous burglary conviction, and will be charged with second-degree burglary and held without bail. Maybe the pain of Jones’ bullet will finally make him learn his lesson.

Homeless man calls 911 from hot tub, seeks cocoa!!!

BEAVERTON, Ore. -A homeless man who called 911 from the hot tub of a suburban Portland home and asked for towels, hot chocolate and a hug got arrested for trespassing instead.
Beaverton police say Mark Eskelsen called 911 from his cell phone, identified himself as "the sheriff of Washington County," and asked for medical help. He later admitted he wasn't the sheriff but informed the dispatcher he'd been "yelling for about an hour and a half."

The man said in his Sunday morning call that he'd been in the water about 10 hours and his towels had gotten wet. As he put it, "I just need a hug and a warm cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows in it."
The Oregonian newspaper says arriving officers arrested Eskelsen for investigation of second-degree criminal trespass and improper use of 911.

Conn. driver falls from car on I-95, Vehicle goes on!!!

DARIEN, Conn. -Connecticut State Police say a man fell out of his car onto Interstate 95 and watched his vehicle drive on for about two-tenths of a mile before it crashed into a pole. Troopers said they're not sure why 51-year-old Robert Craig of Killingworth fell out of his 2006 Dodge Charger late Tuesday morning in Darien near Exit 10. Police said Craig was treated for minor injuries at Stamford Hospital.

State police said Craig fell onto the highway but wasn't struck by any vehicles. They say other motorists stopped to help him and get him to safety. Troopers said the car continued down the highway before striking a light pole and metal guardrail on the right shoulder.
The accident remains under investigation.

Cops: Drunken caller demands ride to Central America, is taken to central booking!!!

When Ibis Rene Cabrera (pictured) allegedly called 911 last Saturday in Stuart, FL he had a rather strange request. No, he wasn't asking cops for a husband, help getting off the bumper of a moving semi, or a ride to a liquor store.

He wanted a ride back to Honduras. While this handy distance calculator says the distance as the crow flies from Stuart to Tegucigalpa is just over a thousand miles, it's gotta be a lot longer than that by police car.

According to police, Cabrera told the operator that he did not have a job, and wanted a ride back to Honduras. A police officer responded, advised Cabrera that they did not give rides to other countries and suggested he stop calling 911. Instead, Cabrera, who cops say was intoxicated, called the emergency line seven more times in the next hour. He was arrested for misusing the emergency line, and taken to Martin County jail.

Acid attacker: 'Hey pretty girl, do you want to drink this?'??

VANCOUVER, Wash. — A 28-year-old woman severely burned when a stranger threw an acid-like liquid in her face was listed in serious condition in a Oregon hospital.
Bethany Storro, of Vancouver, Wash., was getting something out of her car in downtown Vancouver when the attack happened Monday evening, her mother Nancy Neuwelt told The Oregonian.

Neuwelt said a young woman walked up to her daughter, said: "Hey pretty girl, do you want to drink this?" and tossed a cup of liquid in Storro's face.
"I’m a nice girl and I don’t know why this happened," Storro, 28, said Tuesday in her hospital room in the Oregon Burn Center at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland, The Columbian newspaper reported.
Storro said the pain was the most excruciating she had ever experienced, her mother told The Columbian.

Jesus Took The Wheel: Man Jumps 39 Stories In A Suicide Attempt, Lands On A Car … And Survives!!!

Talk about a bad day. A 22-year-old man miraculously survived a 39 story fall into a Dodge Charger yesterday. According to his Facebook page, he hated his life and decided to try to end it but it just wasn’t his time to go.

A young man plunged 39 stories Tuesday from a West Side high-rise, crashed through the windshield of a sports car – and lived to tell about it.

“My leg! My leg!” Thomas Magill, 22, screamed after an apparent suicide attempt ended with his landing in the red 2008 Dodge Charger, witnesses said.

Magill was in critical condition Tuesday night, undergoing surgery for two broken legs – but those who saw him fall were stunned he made it to the hospital.

“He came down feetfirst at like 100 mph,” said witness Andrew Petrocelli, 47, a maintenance worker across the street from where Magill jumped.

“That’s a miracle if I’ve ever seen one. He should be a goner. It was like that movie ‘Unbreakable.’ That was this guy: unbreakable.”

Guy McCormack, 40, of Old Bridge, N.J., owner of the crushed Charger, was doing construction work across the street when his car broke Magill’s fall.
Police sources said investigators believe he jumped from a 39th-floor window or balcony at 10:45 a.m. He landed in the car’s backseat and trunk area, twisted like a pretzel.

“He had his hands up in the air, like flailing,” Petrocelli said. “Just when he’s about to land, there was a boom and glass flying all over.

“The car saved his life,” Petrocelli surmised. “He landed in there like a stunt man. It was amazing.”

Magill hit so hard that his royal-blue Keds sneakers were knocked off his feet and one landed on the windshield of a car parked behind McCormack’s Dodge.

Microsoft Co-founder Sues Apple, Google and Facebook!!!

Microsoft Co-founder Paul Allen is suing Apple, Google, Facebook and eight other companies through his current firm, Interval Licensing LLC.

The lawsuit alleges that 11 different companies, including YouTube, Netflix and AOL, have violated four different patents associated with web search and e-commerce.

As the Wall Street Journal notes, Interval Licensing LLC is a firm that holds IP developed at the now-defunct Interval Research. Interval Research was an incubator that Allen financed during the Internetbubble of the late 1990s.

In a statement, Interval describes the patents at the center of the alleged infringements:

United States Patent No. 6,263,507 issued for an invention entitled “Browser for Use in Navigating a Body of Information, With Particular Application to Browsing Information Represented By Audiovisual Data.”

United States Patent No. 6,034,652 issued for an invention entitled “Attention Manager for Occupying the Peripheral Attention of a Person in the Vicinity of a Display Device.”

United States Patent No. 6,788,314 issued for an invention entitled “Attention Manager for Occupying the Peripheral Attention of a Person in the Vicinity of a Display Device.”

United States Patent No. 6,757,682 issued for an invention entitled “Alerting Users to Items of Current Interest.”

What is frustrating about this lawsuit, from an outsider’s perspective, is that the nature of these patents — while based in software and technology — also have clear ties to business methods. Unfortunately, the Supreme Court’s recent ruling in the Bilski case didn’t make the blurry lines between these two areas any more clear.

Man Looking for Ghost Train Killed by Real Locomotive!!!

Christopher Kaiser spent early Friday morning on a railroad bridge in North Carolina's Iredell County. He and a dozen others were hoping to catch a glimpse of a ghost train -- the chilling apparition of a passenger train that came off the tracks there in 1891, killing 30 people.

Instead, these ghost hunters encountered something far scarier: a real locomotive train hurtling towards them on a track that was 150 feet from safety.

Kaiser and the others tried to get away with some falling as much as 40 feet to escape the locomotive. Most escaped. Kaiser was struck by the train and killed.

"They probably didn't hear the train coming until the last minute," Iredell County Sheriff's Capt. Darren Campbell told The Charlotte Observer.

According to local legend, an apparition of the 1891 Bostian's Bridge crash appears every year on the anniversary of the accident, complete with screaming passengers and grinding metal.

It has even become something of a local industry, with memorabilia such as T-shirts for sale to the spook hunters who gather each year. Nearly 300 gathered there in 1991 for the 100th anniversary.

"We were there looking for what people say happened. You hear the train wreck or hear people screaming. We were just watching," one woman told a local CNN affiliate.

Campbell said he has never met anyone who had seen the ghost train, though there are sometimes reports of railroad barriers falling for no apparent reason.

Engineers on board the real locomotive sounded the horn and did their best to stop the train, the Statesville Record & Landmark reported.

Cops: Cabbie Stabbed After Fare Asked, 'Are You Muslim?'??

Authorities say a New York City cab driver is recovering after being brutally stabbed by a passenger who first demanded, "Are you Muslim?"

The attacks occurred as New York is in the midst of a contentious debate over plans to build an Islamic community center and mosque a few blocks from the site of the former World Trade Center.

Police said Ahmed Sharif, 43, of the borough of Queens was driving his taxi on Manhattan's East Side Monday night when he was hailed by a pedestrian on the street.

Roughly one block from his destination, the passenger, identified as 21-year-old Michael Enright, of Brewster in upstate New York, allegedly asked Sharif, "Are you Muslim?" When Sharif said yes, Enright pulled out a knife and slashed Sharif in the neck, face and shoulders, police said.

Despite his injuries, Sharif was able to lock the attacker in the back of the cab and call for help. The suspect managed to get out of the vehicle, but police quickly located him and took him into custody.

Sharif was treated at a local hospital and released.

"I have been here more than 25 years," he said, according to a statement released by the New York Taxi Workers Alliance (NYTWA). "I have been driving a taxi more than 15 years. All my four kids were born here. I [have] never [felt] this hopeless and insecure before."

Sharif said he believed the debate over the Islamic center, often dubbed the ground zero mosque, was making public sentiment "very serious."

"All drivers should be more careful," he said.

Father Beats 4-Week-Old, Breaks 56 Bones, Causes Bleeding On The Brain!!!

A Savage, Minnesota man is in police custody after authorities say he committed the “most severe case of child abuse they've ever seen”, breaking 56 bones in his 4-week-old daughter's body and causing bleeding on her brain.

22-year-old Thomas Edward Ampe was arrested for beating his young daughter after authorities were called to a local hospital where the child was being treated for a fractured rib and bruises.

When police arrived on the scene, X-rays showed 56 fractures in the infant's arms, legs, ribs and knees while an MRI showed bleeding and bruising on the brain in three areas.

Police say Ampe admitted to occasionally “shaking” the child who has Down syndrome when he became bothered by her constant crying.

Ampe also allegedly admitted to shoving a bottle in the baby's mouth so hard that it separated her upper lip from the gum, causing it to bleed.

Police say the father also told them he would often grab the infant by the wrists, flip her over and hit her on top of the head with an open hand.
Additionally, authorities say he would often drop her on her back from as high as 1 foot above the baby bed.

Savage Police Capt. Dave Muelken summarized the case saying,

“In my 33 years [as a police officer] this is the most severe case of child abuse I have ever seen.”

Ampe was released from jail August 19 after posting $50,000 bail.

If convicted on the assault charges, he faces a maximum of 20 years behind bars and a $30,000 fine.

Across the country yesterday, there were a whole lot of naked breasts jiggling around. Sad you missed it? Yup, we figured you’d be.

Go Topless held its annual rallies across the nation to protest the double standard between men and women going topless. Sounds like a worthy cause to us! Depending on what state the ladies lived in determined whether or not they could go completely naked up top for the protest. Luckily for New York spectators, they could. But not everyone happily embraced some Mid-Town nudity. Some called the entire thing a “lewd spectacle.” Damn those people with wholesome family values!

Nadine Gary, the LA march organizer, said:

“Some states, like New York, are supposedly ‘top-free,’ but in 2005 Phoenix Feeley was arrested for going topless. She later won $29,000 for wrongful arrest. If we are not allowed, men must be forced to hide their chests on the basis of gender equality.”

Eh, valid argument, but I think there are two prominent masses of awesome that tend to get in the way there.

85 yearl old Granpa tries to smuggle Pot in Jail for Grandson!!!

Richard Heritz may possibly be the coolest grandfather ever. Though he would be a whole lot cooler had he not gotten caught smuggling pot to his locked up grandson. Find out more after the jump.

After visiting the Warren Correction Institution in southwestern Ohio, 85-year-old Richard Heritz was arrested for trying to smuggle in about 20 pounds of pot for his grandson Gregory, who was serving time for burglary. According to officials this marijuana toting octogenarian could face up to seven years in prison and a $15,000 fine if found guilty.

Aww come on guys, you have to cut this guy some slack. The fact that a man who is 80-plus years old would be able to a) score that much pot, b) think of a creative way to smuggle it in and c) have the huevos to see it through definitely earns him a little leniency don’t you think?

3-Year-Old Saves Dad by Walking to Fire Station for Help!!!

(Aug. 23) -- When her father collapsed in their living room, 3-year-old Alesaundra Tafoya knew what to do. The Manteca, Calif., toddler walked two blocks to the fire station, where she told firefighters her father was "frozen" and needed help.

"I've been here over 20 years, it's the first time I've had a 3-year-old walk up to the fire station," Manteca Fire Department Capt. Robert Villalovoz told CBS 13. "She walked us down to her house and there her dad was, sitting in the living room, needing medical care."

According to the Manteca Bulletin, Alesaundra made it as far as the parking lot behind the fire department when members of an Alcoholics Anonymous support group meeting next door noticed that the toddler looked confused and helped her make it the rest of the way into the fire station.

Alesaundra may have saved her dad's life. Her father, Frank Tafoya, says he accidentally overdosed on prescription medication. "Took a mixture of medication I wasn't supposed to at the time, a bedtime dose, and I guess I collapsed," he said.
Her parents said they'd been pointing out the fire station as a place to go to get help in case of an emergency.

Ex-Marine Guilty of Murdering Pregnant Colleague!!!

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (Aug. 23) - A jury on Monday convicted a former Marine of first-degree murder in the death of a pregnant colleague who had accused him of rape, a charge that stalled the military career he treasured.

Cesar Laurean, 23, of Las Vegas, was found guilty of killing Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach, 20, of Vandalia, Ohio,. The two were assigned to the same logistics unit at Camp Lejeune, the base in Jacksonville that is home to about 50,000 Marines.

The former Marine was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. The victim's mother, Mary Lauterbach, read a statement before the judge imposed the sentence. She told Laurean to look at his mother and see the pain in her face.

"I feel so sorry for your daughter. She will have to live with the shame that her father is in prison for murdering not one but two people," Mary Lauterbach said.

Defense lawyer Dick McNeil told the court Laurean would appeal. The judge ordered the state's appellate defender's office to represent Laurean's appeal. Laurean also faced three other charges of robbing Lauterbach of her bank ATM card, and of theft and attempted fraud for allegedly trying to use it to withdraw cash. He was found not guilty of the robbery charge, but Laurean was convicted on the fraud and theft charges.

The jury of seven women and five men deliberated for three hours since Monday before convicting Laurean. Laurean was eventually cleared of the rape accusation, and a Marine buddy testified Laurean told him the sex was consensual.

Prosecutors had argued Laurean wanted to get rid of the woman because their encounter threatened to destroy his military career. Even if the sex was consensual, Laurean could have been punished because it is against Marine Corps rules to have sex with a subordinate.

McNeil had argued prosecutors failed to prove Laurean swung the crowbar that fractured Lauterbach's skull. He said Laurean's wife, also a Marine, could have exploded when Lauterbach appeared at the couple's home on the day she disappeared. Authorities described Christina Laurean as a cooperating witness and have not charged her with any crime.
