Google is coming out with a car that drives itself!!!

Is there anything the folks over at Google can’t do? They give us the greatest search engine ever and now they want to grace the roads with self-driving cars. Find out more about the Artificial Intelligent ride after the jump.

While Google insiders speculate that the car is at least eight years from actually hitting the road, they say a self-driving car is definitely possible, and are even testing out prototypes now. Researchers say that self-driving cars would actually mean greater safety on the roads, more precise driving and would help to avoid the human error (drinking, texting, falling asleep at the wheel) that can often cause accidents. But don’t think that these machines are completely out of your control. The expectation is that someone will always be behind the wheel, ready to tap a red button to regain control of the car if something unexpected happens.

Riot Police Called In To Calm Chaotic Scene Of Over 30K People Attempting To Receive Section 8 Applications In Atlanta!!!

AJC.com: Thirty thousand people showed up to receive Section 8 housing applications in East Point Wednesday, suffering through hours in the hot sun, angry flare-ups in the crowd and lots of frustration and confusion for a chance to receive a government-subsidized apartment.

The massive event sometimes descended into a chaotic mob scene filled with anger and impatience. Some 62 people needed medical attention and 20 of them were transported to a hospital, authorities said. A baby went into a seizure in the heat and was stabilized at a hospital. People were removed on stretchers and when a throng of people who had been waiting hours in a line were told to move to another line, people started pushing, shoving and cursing, witnesses said. Still, officials of East Point declared the day a success. Nobody was arrested and nobody was seriously injured, they said. It was an assessment roundly challenged by many of the people who had to go through it.

Kim Lemish, executive director of the East Point Housing Authority, said the event marked the first time the city has offered Section 8 housing applications since 2002. The waiting list that lasted eight years had depleted, she said, and the agency was beginning a new one. So people braved all the physical difficulties just to get on a waiting list that could keep them waiting for years.

Lemish said the agency had expected about 10,000 people but three times as many showed up. Many were just accompanying those looking for an application. Some 13,000 applications were handed out.
Concern is rising that a similar scene could occur Thursday when the housing authority of this small city begins accepting the completed applications. Wednesday's event was only to hand out the paperwork. The housing authority will begin accepting applications at 9 a.m.

Some of the crowd waited for two days at the Tri-Cities Plaza shopping center. As the temperature rose Wednesday, people fell ill.

Sgt. Cliff Chandler, spokesman for the East Point Police Department, said a toddler was treated earlier in the morning for "some type of seizure," Chandler said.

"A lot of it was heat and some was health-related issues" such people not taking their medications, Chandler said.

By the time everyone had left around 2 p.m., the temperature had climbed into the low 90s.

East Point police, some wearing riot helmets, were patrolling the area. Firefighters and EMTs were attending to people who were overheating in the sun. Police from College Park, Hapeville, Fulton County and MARTA assisted in crowd control.

Chandler said there were no arrests.

Felecia McGhee told the AJC she arrived around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. She said the major problem began when people started breaking into the line and then officials handing out applications started moving those areas and those line breakers. She said she saw at least two small children trampled when the crowd rushed the building where the applications were to be handed out.

"It's a real mess out here," she said.

Channel 2 Action News reporter Mike Petchenik said fights were breaking out and police had to stop people who were storming the door.

Channel 2 reporter Tom Jones said, “There are thousands, I mean, thousands of people here. I’ve seen people fall out from the heat.”

By late morning the crowd had thinned considerably and people were walking up and getting their applications without delay. But just before the 1 p.m. deadline, a line of about 200 people had formed. Shortly after 1 p.m., several people ran across the parking lot to get in line but were told by police that the line was closed.

Emergency personnel brought in a pickup truck full of bottled water and were handing it out to the crowd.

A sign on the door of the office explained that only applications were being handed out.

"The housing authority will be issuing applications Wednesday, August 11, starting at 9 a.m. Everyone in line by 1 p.m. on the 11th will receive an application. ... No Section 8 vouchers are available at this time. There are no public housing units available at this time. You're applying for the waiting list only."

IRS Now After Wyclef Jean As The Potential Haitian Presidential Candidate Reportedly Owes More Than $2.1 Million!!

AUGUST 4--Wyclef Jean, who appears ready to announce his candidacy for Haiti’s presidency, owes the Internal Revenue Service more than $2.1 million, according to federal tax liens filed against the musician, The Smoking Gun has learned.

In May, the IRS filed a $724,332 tax lien against Jean. Last July, the agency filed a $599,167 lien against the performer. And a $792,269 lien was lodged against Jean in July 2007. The liens cover taxes due on Jean’s individual 1040 returns for 2006, 2007 and 2008. Copies of the liens, which were filed at the Bergen County clerk’s office in New Jersey, can be viewed at left.

In 1998, Jean--whose given name is Nel Wyclef Jean--purchased a $1.85 million home at 8 Cameron Road in Saddle River, where he lives with his wife Claudinette and their family. The three IRS liens were filed against Nel W. Jean at the Cameron Road address.

Other records show that Jean, 37, has previously been the subject of two smaller tax liens filed against him by the State of New Jersey and the New York State Tax Commission, both of which were eventually satisfied.

Following the Haitian earthquake, TSG reported on Jean’s questionable handling of the finances of his charitable foundation. Along with filing tax returns years late, Jean used his foundation to pay himself and a business partner more than $410,000 for rent, production services, and Jean's appearance at a benefit concert.

Though the Wyclef Jean Foundation had operated at a deficit and experienced cash flow problems, Jean actually paid himself and a partner (his cousin Jerry Duplessis) $65,000 in upfront rent payments for space at a Manhattan recording studio the duo owns. The prepaid 25 months worth of rent covered the foundation’s use of a café table in the studio's kitchen. Jean’s foundation has received millions in donations since the Haiti tragedy, but it is unknown how the group has spent those funds.

Along with attempting to rebuild a devastated country, the next Haitian president will be in charge of handling foreign aid payments as well as the nation’s own limited financial resources. (3 pages)

Shenzhen Huashi Future Parking Equipment says that it will be starting work on buses that will be able to driver clear over traffic to provide a completely uninterrupted travel experience. Construction on these specialized buses are scheduled to begin by the end of the year in Beigin’s Mentougou district.

Now if we can only get these things in the U.S. Get to work guys!

Joan Ginther Wins Texas Lottery 4 Times!!!

Texas (June 14) -- The odds that Joan Ginther would hit four Texas Lottery jackpots for a combined nearly $21 million are astronomical. Mathematicians say the chances are as slim as 1 in 18 septillion -- that's 18 and 24 zeros.

Just as unlikely? Getting to know one of the luckiest women in the world.

"She wants her privacy," friend Cris Carmona said.

On a $50 scratch-off ticket bought in this rural farming community, Ginther won $10 million last month in her biggest windfall yet. But it was the fourth winning ticket in Texas for the 63-year-old former college professor since 1993, when Ginther split an $11 million jackpot and became the most famous native in Bishop history.

But she's a celebrity who few in this town of 3,300 people can say much about.

"That lady is pretty much scarce to everybody," said Lucas Ray Cruz, Ginther's former neighbor. "That's just the way she is."

At the Times Market where Ginther bought her last two winning tickets, the highway gas station is fast becoming a pilgrimage for unlucky lottery losers. Lines stretch deep past a $5.98 bin of Mexican movie DVDs, and a woman from Rhode Island called last week asking to buy tickets from the charmed store through the mail.

She was told that was illegal. The woman called back to plead again anyway.

The Texas Lottery Commission has seen repeat winners before, but none on the scale of Ginther. Spokesman Bobby Heith said the agency has never investigated Ginther's winnings -- three scratch-off tickets and one lottery draw -- for possible fraud but described the verification system as thorough. Her other winnings -- both from scratch-off tickets -- were $2 million in 2006 and $3 million in 2008.

So how did Ginther do it, then?

Good luck pinning her down to ask.

Ginther has never spoken publicly about her lotto winnings and could not be found for comment. She now lives in Las Vegas after moving away from Bishop, and an answering machine message for a telephone number listed at her address says not to leave a message.

She asked the few people who've exchanged more than brief pleasantries with her not to grant interviews and sneaked into lottery headquarters in Austin to collect her winnings with the least publicity the state offers jackpot winners.

But spend a few hours in her hometown --and equal time scouring public records -- and a contrasting profile emerges.

Her home address in Las Vegas is on a street called Paradise Drive. When USA Today asked readers in 2000 to sound off on airline service, Ginther groaned over a flight attendant who carted away her cheese and crackers and a sundae too soon. Two years later, she grumbled to the Las Vegas Review-Journal about a proposed monorail running through her exclusive condominium towers.

"I moved here because I wanted to have a beautiful home with a great view and that's what I have. I didn't expect to have a monorail come down here with thousands of tourists every day," Ginther told the newspaper, in what might have been the only time she was directly quoted in the media.

Nitpicking first-class service, and mad the view in her luxury home might be spoiled?

Bishop residents may not know much about Ginther -- but they know that's not her.

Here around the cotton farms and boarded-up downtown, Ginther, who over the years regularly visited the town to see her father who died in 2007, is called benevolent as much as she's called lucky. They say she bought the church a van. Gave money to the family that runs the Days Inn off the highway. When she moved, she donated her home to charity.

Sun Bae, who owns the Time Market and sold Ginther her last two winning tickets, said she drives around in a bland Nissan sedan but once bought a nicer car for someone down on their luck. Bae said Ginther doesn't even own a cell phone.

"She is a very generous woman. She's helped so many people," Bae said.

Calculating the actual odds of Ginther hitting four multimillion-dollar lottery jackpots is tricky. If Ginther's winning tickets were the only four she ever bought, the odds would be one in 18 septillion, according to Sandy Norman and Eduardo Duenez, math professors at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Exactly how often Ginther plays is unknown. But Norman and Duenez said that a habitual player winning four times over a 17-year span is much less far-fetched.

At the Times Market, Bae and store regular Gloria Gonzalez said they've certainly watched Ginther buy her share of tickets over the years. And not just for her.

Gonzalez said when her elderly father would sit at the store's window booth and scrub through dollar scratch-offs, Ginther would surprise him with a $50 ream of tickets.

"Win, win, win," Ginther would chant, rooting him on.

After all, the only way to win is to keep playing. Ginther is smart enough to know that's how you beat the odds: she earned her doctorate from Stanford University in 1976, then spent a decade on faculty at several colleges in California.

Waste Of Money: Fan Pays $1 Mllion Dollars To Appear In Lady Gaga's 'Alejandro' Video!!

A Lady Gaga fan reportedly paid $1 million to appear in her new music video.

A Russian billionaire gave the pop singer the huge sum for the chance to star alongside her in the nine-minute promo for 'Alejandro'.

The wealthy admirer, who is only known as Arkady, can be spotted in the video playing a cop dressed in a black leather hat and coat.

The 30 year old said: "Yes it was me in the clip, but I can't give further details."

Gaga is also said to have been sworn to secrecy about his part in the promo.

The short film has attracted criticism for its religious overtones, which include the 'Poker Face' singer swallowing rosary beads whilst dressed as a nun.

Director Steven Klein insists the themes in the video aren t meant to upset Christians, saying: It s not meant to denote anything negative. It represents the character's battle between the dark forces of this world and the spiritual salvation of the Soul.

"Thus at the end of the film, she chooses to be a nun, and the reason her mouth and eyes disappear is because she is withdrawing her senses from the world of evil and going inward towards prayer and contemplation."

Chihuahua Inherit A Mansion With Servants And Millions After Owners Death.!!

Miami Beach's newest socialite, Conchita, lives in an $8.3 million Sunset Island mansion, owns a Cartier diamond necklace and has a $3 million trust fund to support a lifestyle of designer duds, massages and pedicures, reports The Miami Herald.

What makes Conchita different from other Miami Beach socialites: She's a Chihuahua. Conchita came into her wealth upon the March death of her owner, socialite Gail Posner, who died of cancer at the age of 67. Gail Posner was the daughter of late corporate raider Victor Posner, who amassed a fortune by plundering companies and ultimately got himself in trouble with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Whether Conchita keeps her millions will be decided in Miami-Dade Circuit Court, where Gail Posner's only living child, son Bret Carr, launched a legal battle this month over his mother's estate. Carr claims his mother was manipulated into changing her will in 2008, leaving millions to her dogs and hired help.

Gail Posner's will and trust gives her three dogs — Conchita, April Maria and Lucia — the right to live in the two-story Sunset Island mansion until they die.

She also left $27 million to her maids, bodyguards and personal trainer, plus the right for some of them to live rent-free in the seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom mansion in exchange for taking care of the dogs.

Bret Posner got only $1 million. The remainder of the estate goes to charities.

Posner in 2007 had hired a publicist for Conchita, who she billed as the world's most spoiled dog. Gail Posner told The Miami Herald in 2007 about Conchita's $12,000 summer wardrobe and a $15,000 Cartier necklace that the Chihuahua refused to wear after choking on it.

"Conchita is the only girl I know who doesn't consider diamonds her best friend,'' Posner told The Miami Herald.

It will be up to the courts to decide if Gail Posner knew what she was doing when she signed that will and no one who stood to gain from the will exerted "undue influence'' on her, said Carl Westman, a trusts and estate planning attorney with GrayRobinson in Naples.

After Victor Posner's death, Gail started to show signs of overcoming the addiction and mental problems that had plagued her her entire life. During that time she grew closer to Carr. But the diagnosis of breast cancer in 2005 sent her into a tailspin, Carr said. Things only got worse as the cancer spread to her brain.

The suit charges that her employees took advantage of her condition.

Victor Posner set up irrevocable trusts in 1965 for Gail and her twin brother Steven, which would generate income for them during their entire lives.

But the trust was closed in 2008 with any remaining money given to Gail Posner and placed in a newly created trust. Carr's suit accuses BNY, the personal representative of Gail's estate, of breaching its "fiduciary duties.''

"We believe we acted appropriately as trustee in relation to the 1965 trust,'' said Susan Rivers, a spokeswoman for BNY Mellon Wealth Management.

His daughter was only allowed to touch the principal in her $100 million trust account for emergencies or if she needed money to "maintain her in the station of life she was accustomed.'' The principal was supposed to remain in the trust for her children.

Now, Carr is suing BNY Mellon and related firm Mellon Private Trust. He wants to know what happened to the $100 million he claims was in his mother's trust after Victor Posner's death.

Pet waste removal worker finds $58 in dog poop!!

ST. LOUIS – This is why your mother says to wash your hands after handling money: A St. Louis worker found $58 — packed in dog poop. Steve Wilson works for DoodyCalls Pet Waste Removal. On a recent call, he noticed money sticking out from doggie doo. Wilson wasn't sure what to do, but eventually pulled out the bills, sanitized them, placed them in a plastic zip-locked bag and returned them to the customer. It turned out to be $58.

The company said the money was torn, but the serial numbers were identifiable, which means the bills could be returned to a bank and replaced with new money.

The Association of Professional Animal Waste Specialists says Wilson is the first person in his profession to find and report money in dog poop.

Paintings worth millions stolen in Paris!!!

PARIS – A lone thief stole five paintings possibly worth hundreds of millions of euros, including major works by Picasso and Matisse, in a brazen overnight heist at a Paris modern art museum, police and prosecutors said Thursday. The paintings disappeared early Thursday from the Paris Museum of Modern Art, across the Seine River from the Eiffel Tower. Investigators have cordoned off the museum, in one of the French capital's most tourist-frequented neighborhoods. The museum's security system was disabled, and a single masked intruder was caught on a video surveillance camera, according to Christophe Girard, deputy culture secretary at Paris City Hall. Investigators are trying to determine whether the intruder was operating alone, Girard told reporters. He said three guards were on duty overnight but "they saw nothing."

The intruder entered by cutting a padlock on a gate and breaking a museum window, the Paris prosecutor's office said. The prosecutor's office initially estimated the five paintings' total worth at as much as euro500 million ($613 million).

Paris Mayor Bertrand Delanoe said in a statement that he was "saddened and shocked by this theft, which is an intolerable attack on Paris' universal cultural heritage."
The director of the neighboring modern art museum Palais de Tokyo, Pierre Cornette de Saint-Cyr, called the thief or thieves "fools."

"You cannot do anything with these paintings. All countries in the world are aware, and no collector is stupid enough to buy a painting that, one, he can't show to other collectors, and two, risks sending him to prison," he said on LCI television.
"In general, you find these paintings," he said. "These five paintings are un-sellable, so thieves, sirs, you are imbeciles, now return them."

Neighbor: Tiger Woods is a jerk, and for $3.99 you can hear all about it!!

A man whose parents landed in the news after Tiger Woods crashed in their yard has decided to talk about what it's like living in Isleworth next to the pro golfer — and he doesn't have many nice things to say, reports the Orlando Sentinel.

But if you want to hear what Jerome "Jay" Adams Jr. has to tell, be prepared to pay.

For $3.99, you can hear a disgruntled Adams talk for nearly 14 minutes about how Woods once snubbed him, mocked his mother and had tall hedges planted for privacy,

He's a jerk," Adams states on the video, posted at behindthegates.com.

Woods was injured in the early morning crash when he tried to drive away from his mansion, bounced off two curbs, plowed through shrubs, hit a fire hydrant and then crashed into a tree.

Although the Florida Highway Patrol contends Adams was no witness to the crash, Adams did have cell phone photographs, which is noted in FHP's report, but did not turn those over to troopers.

His lawyer, Michael Moore, said FHP made no such request.

But if you're curious, a second video is to come at an undetermined date, Adams states, which will provide his "eyewitness" account of the Nov. 27 "accident scene."

British People Drink A Lot!!!

LONDON, May 7 (UPI) -- A British survey suggests people in the country spend an average $58,400 buying drinks for themselves and friends during their lifetimes.

The online OnePoll.com survey suggested Britons as a whole spend $44.4 billion buying drinks during an average year, the Daily Mail reported Friday.

Two-thirds of respondents said they often find themselves buying rounds for people they don't know.

"Buying rounds is a way of life in Britain and these results show us to be a very generous nation," a OnePoll spokesman said. "The cost of buying a round soon adds up and over their lifetime it amounts to a sizable piece of their disposable income."

Generous, eh? Well shelling out more than the average person’s salary to get your friends shwasted is definitely more than a little generous. Maybe folks on this side of the pond should follow in your philanthropic footsteps and start buying rounds for random strangers here. I think it would make this nation a much happier place, don’t you agree?

Man accused of altering $10 check to $269,951

Check out this get-rich-quick scheme ...

The Florida Gulf Bank sent Clair Arthur Smith a check for $10 after he closed his account.

Smith, 42, of Cape Coral, then altered the check to be payable in the amount of $269,951. He then deposited it into a Bank of America account via an ATM transaction, reports the Fort Myers News-Press.

His scheme didn't work; the bank detected the fraudulent check.

When investigators searched Smith’s home they found the evidence: the deposit receipt and the clothes he used during the transaction.

Smith 'fessed up.

Now, instead of vacationing in Europe, he's in jail charged with fraud and grand theft. He's also facing a charge of failing to register as a convicted felon in Lee County.

Thieves Breaks Into Dutch Prison To Steal T.V's!!

Wouldn’t it just be easier to break into Best Buy or Target or something? But no, one band of thieves decided that they wanted to be a little more adventurous in their burglarizing. At least twice in the past six weeks a group of burglars has broken into a minimum-security Dutch prison to steal inmates’ televisions while they were out of their cells.

The prison serves as a transition facility for inmates at the end of their sentences to readjust to life outside the big house. So on the weekends, prisoners are often allowed to head out into the outside world, giving the burglars ample time to make their way into empty cells and grab the TVs. So far there haven’t been any arrests and prison administrators are stumped as to how the thieves made their way in.

Well despite the fact that these thieves are pretty much asking to be caught, it’s actually not all that bad of a plan to lift some electronics from absent inmates. Hey if no one is in the cells, the guards are way less stressed out and probably less aware, so if there was a time to break into prison, that would be it.

Atlanta, Georgia (CNN) -- In Chris Harrison's ideal world, mobile phones would be the size of matchbooks. They'd have full-size keyboards. They'd browse the Web. They'd play videos.
And, most importantly, you'd never have to touch them.

Sound like too much to ask? Maybe not.

Harrison, a graduate student at Carnegie Mellon University and a former intern at Microsoft Research, has developed a working prototype of a system called Skinput that does just that, essentially by turning a person's hand and forearm into a keyboard and screen.

"People don't love the iPhone keyboard. They use them. But they don't love them," Harrison said in a interview at the recent Computer-Human Interaction conference. "If you could make the iPhone keyboard as big as an arm -- that would be huge."

Using Skinput, a person could tap their thumb and middle finger together to answer a call; touch their forearm to go to the next track on a music player; or flick the center of their palm to select a menu item.

All of these sign-language-like movements, which are customizable, would control a gadget in a person's pocket through a Bluetooth connection.

When fitted with a pico-projector, the Skinput system could display an image of a digital keyboard on a person's forearm. So, using Skinput, someone could send text messages by tapping his or her arm in certain places -- without pulling the phone out of a pocket or purse.

"You could pretty much do a lot of what you do on your iPhone," said Harrison, who says Skinput "is [like having] your iPhone on your palm."
