The makers of Four Loko have been under investigation since late 2009 for the safety and legality of their beverages.

The company might soon be forced to discontinue the product until they can prove that the addition of caffeine to their beverage is in fact safe.

Scotland might have its infamous deep-fried Mars bar, but that treat's now got some serious competition. Mixing together two of mankind's favorite things (deep-fried stuff and alcohol), one inventive Texan has discovered a means of deep-frying beer. And it apparently requires ravioli.

Unveiled at Texas's famous deep-fried-food convention, inventor Mark Zable has said that his process of taking ravioli packets, filling them with Guinness, then quickly dunking them in hot oil (370 degrees for 20 seconds, in case you were wondering) took him three years to perfect. And the results are, well, peculiar.

When bitten into, the beer and fatty pasta combine to cause what is undoubtedly referred to as "a taste sensation." Whether it's a good one remains a matter of personal opinion and relies on your heart being strong enough to withstand the mighty force of the deep-fried beer grenade.

The brand-new foodstuff has already been labeled as an alcoholic product, requiring deep-fried-food-loving Texans to be over 21 to gobble one down. They will soon be on sale for $5 per 5 pieces. Also, before you get too excited, the process has already been patented and the words "deep-fried beer" copyrighted by that industrious Mr. Zable.

Nail Salon Visit Leaves Woman Humiliated As She Is Charged An Extra $5 For Being Overweight!!

Michelle Fonville, an overweight woman who went to get a manicure, pedicure and eyebrow arch at Natural Nails in DeKalb, Georgia, was charged $5 extra because of her weight, reports WSBTV.com.

Fonville shares with the news station: "I was humiliated. I almost cried. Tears were forming in my eyes."

She realized the charges after looking over her bill. Fonville says she thought it was a mistake, until the manager told her she was charged $5 because of her weight.

Salon manager Kim Tran told reporter Eric Philips that the surcharge was due to costly repairs of broken chairs by overweight customers, reports WSBTV.com. Tran explained "the chairs have a weight capacity of 200 pounds and cost $2,500 to fix."

Tran says she shared this message with Fonville. "I didn't want to argue with her about $5. I wanted to make her pleased with her service," Tran said. "I whispered ... I said, 'I'm sorry, next time I cannot take you.'"

WTF: Nightclub Puts A BAN On Overweight Women - "NO FAT GIRLS ALLOWED"!!

A nightclub in Montreal, has specifically put a ban on overweight women, leaving a lot of club goers and partiers upset.

The invitation was posted last week on the Facebook page of Muzique, a posh nightclub on St. Laurent Blvd., and included the ban on "fat girls," followed by the emoticon of a winking smiley face.

Although a Montreal nightclub is distancing itself from an invitation on its Facebook page that specified "NO FAT GIRLS ALLOWED!!!!!!!!!!," people familiar with the local party scene say clubs regularly, if not so overtly, discriminate based on looks all the time.

Club Owner Stefano Apostolakos:

"Everybody knows. Clubs are selective. A nightclub that wants to attract a certain kind of crowd will never openly turn people away based on weight, he said, but if people don't fit in with the club's look, a bouncer can still find some excuse to turn them away -whether it's a long wait time, an expensive bottle service fee or claiming the club is at capacity,”

The party was to celebrate the birthday of one of the club's partners on Saturday. The invitation was taken down on the weekend.

"When I saw it, I freaked out. I was livid," said one plus-size woman who received the message as a member of Muzique's Facebook group.

Speaking on condition that her name not be used, the woman said her weight has never stopped her from going out, but she won't be visiting Muzique if it discriminates against people who are overweight.

Holy Shit : Doctor freezes man's skull, saves his life!!!

A UTAH man had a 90 to 95 percent chance of dying after shattering his skull in more than 10 places until a neurosurgeon removed both sides of his head and froze it.

Kyle Johnson’s brain swelled uncontrollably after he fell off a longboard - essentially a surfboard on wheels - while travelling about 60km/h.

Dr Blake Welling of McKay-Dee Hospital in Utah decided to perform the risky surgery.

“We elected to take Kyle to surgery and remove each side of his head,” Dr Welling told FOXNews.com.

“It’s called a bilateral decompressive craniectomy. It’s something that neurosurgeons do as a last ditch effort.

“Most neurosurgeons do a decompressive craniectomy on one side of the head, where the trauma was.

“In this case, Kyle had such a global brain injury that we needed to take both sides of his head off, and you just leave a small strip of bone right down the middle.”

Dr Welling and his team removed Mr Johnson’s fractured skull, put it back together with micro-screws and plates, and then put it in a freezer to prevent the bone from becoming brittle.

Mr Johnson was placed in a drug-induced coma for about three weeks while doctors monitored his brain swelling. After the swelling went down, Dr Welling put the bone flaps back into place, and it took Mr Johnson about another week to wake up.

“I wasn’t quite sure what we were going to be left with,” Dr Welling said.

“When people have injuries like this I thought he may have a significant disability in terms of having to talk and walk again and learning his cognitive function. But low and behold, Kyle woke up and his lights gradually went back on.”

Dr Welling said by all purposes, Mr Johnson should have died.

“He had a very high mortality rate,” he said.

“I told him sometimes we’re left with really terrible results, but in your case you have a guardian angel, you have something to live for."

Although Mr Johnson did not require any real physical therapy, he is currently undergoing cognitive therapy to help with memory loss and things like multi-tasking.

“It’s something that I do not have the ability to do right now,” he said.

“If you put two color crayons in front of me, say blue and green, I really cannot think of both crayons. I can only think of one at a time and even that is a struggle. So, for therapy, we’ve been doing more mind exercises if you will.”

Now, almost 10 weeks after the accident, Mr Johnson is looking forward to the future, but he is not sure if he will ever get back on his longboard.

"It's kind of an eerie type of feeling - so I don't know if I will ever get back to longboarding - but snowboarding for sure," he said.

It sounds like Hartwell was desperate. WTF?! Female German singer has unprotected sex with men without warning them she has HIV.

Nadja Benaissa, 28, was speaking at the opening of her trial in the German city of Darmstadt.

"I am so sorry," Ms Benaissa told the court. However, she denied deliberately infecting anyone.

She faces a charge of grievous bodily harm for allegedly infecting one man.

She has also been charged with attempted bodily harm for allegedly having sex with two other men who were not infected.

If convicted, Ms Benaissa faces a prison sentence ranging from six months to 10 years.

After the opening of the trial, German news agency DAPD carried a statement from Ms Benaissa's lawyer admitting she had not handled the HIV virus properly, and conceding she had had unprotected sex.

But the singer said: "No way did I want my partner to be infected."

Aids gala declaration
Ms Benaissa was arrested in Frankfurt last year, shortly before she was due to perform a solo concert, and spent 10 days in custody.

Aids campaigners were critical of the authorities' handling of the arrest and warned against a rush to criminalise the transmission of HIV, the BBC's Tristana Moore reports from Berlin.

According to prosecutors, Ms Benaissa knew she was HIV-positive as early as 1999.

A former lover, who is HIV-positive, has said the singer infected him in 2004 and is due to appear in court in Darmstadt as a co-claimant.

Last November Ms Benaissa appeared at an Aids charity gala in Berlin and openly declared: "My name is Nadja Benaissa, I'm 27 years old, I have a daughter - and I'm HIV-positive."

No Angels were formed in 2000 on the international TV show Popstars, before recording a series of hits and emerging as Germany's most successful girl band.

They re-formed in 2007 and competed in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest, finishing 23rd.

Ms Benaissa's trial is expected to end later this month.

Riot Police Called In To Calm Chaotic Scene Of Over 30K People Attempting To Receive Section 8 Applications In Atlanta!!!

AJC.com: Thirty thousand people showed up to receive Section 8 housing applications in East Point Wednesday, suffering through hours in the hot sun, angry flare-ups in the crowd and lots of frustration and confusion for a chance to receive a government-subsidized apartment.

The massive event sometimes descended into a chaotic mob scene filled with anger and impatience. Some 62 people needed medical attention and 20 of them were transported to a hospital, authorities said. A baby went into a seizure in the heat and was stabilized at a hospital. People were removed on stretchers and when a throng of people who had been waiting hours in a line were told to move to another line, people started pushing, shoving and cursing, witnesses said. Still, officials of East Point declared the day a success. Nobody was arrested and nobody was seriously injured, they said. It was an assessment roundly challenged by many of the people who had to go through it.

Kim Lemish, executive director of the East Point Housing Authority, said the event marked the first time the city has offered Section 8 housing applications since 2002. The waiting list that lasted eight years had depleted, she said, and the agency was beginning a new one. So people braved all the physical difficulties just to get on a waiting list that could keep them waiting for years.

Lemish said the agency had expected about 10,000 people but three times as many showed up. Many were just accompanying those looking for an application. Some 13,000 applications were handed out.
Concern is rising that a similar scene could occur Thursday when the housing authority of this small city begins accepting the completed applications. Wednesday's event was only to hand out the paperwork. The housing authority will begin accepting applications at 9 a.m.

Some of the crowd waited for two days at the Tri-Cities Plaza shopping center. As the temperature rose Wednesday, people fell ill.

Sgt. Cliff Chandler, spokesman for the East Point Police Department, said a toddler was treated earlier in the morning for "some type of seizure," Chandler said.

"A lot of it was heat and some was health-related issues" such people not taking their medications, Chandler said.

By the time everyone had left around 2 p.m., the temperature had climbed into the low 90s.

East Point police, some wearing riot helmets, were patrolling the area. Firefighters and EMTs were attending to people who were overheating in the sun. Police from College Park, Hapeville, Fulton County and MARTA assisted in crowd control.

Chandler said there were no arrests.

Felecia McGhee told the AJC she arrived around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. She said the major problem began when people started breaking into the line and then officials handing out applications started moving those areas and those line breakers. She said she saw at least two small children trampled when the crowd rushed the building where the applications were to be handed out.

"It's a real mess out here," she said.

Channel 2 Action News reporter Mike Petchenik said fights were breaking out and police had to stop people who were storming the door.

Channel 2 reporter Tom Jones said, “There are thousands, I mean, thousands of people here. I’ve seen people fall out from the heat.”

By late morning the crowd had thinned considerably and people were walking up and getting their applications without delay. But just before the 1 p.m. deadline, a line of about 200 people had formed. Shortly after 1 p.m., several people ran across the parking lot to get in line but were told by police that the line was closed.

Emergency personnel brought in a pickup truck full of bottled water and were handing it out to the crowd.

A sign on the door of the office explained that only applications were being handed out.

"The housing authority will be issuing applications Wednesday, August 11, starting at 9 a.m. Everyone in line by 1 p.m. on the 11th will receive an application. ... No Section 8 vouchers are available at this time. There are no public housing units available at this time. You're applying for the waiting list only."

HANOI, Vietnam — An acupuncturist who claims she can detect a man's virginity based on a small dot on the ear has become a minor celebrity in Vietnam, where she is credited with helping to free three convicted rapists from prison.

Traditional medicine practitioner Pham Thi Hong started lobbying for the men's release, pleading their case all the way to the president, because she believes all three men are virgins and therefore could not be guilty of rape.

"They all had small red spots on the back of their ears," said Hong, 54. "The spots should have disappeared if they had had sex. My many years of experience told me that these men did not have sex before."

Her claims are unusual even for a country where acupuncture and traditional medicine are still common remedies, but Hong's determination to have the case reopened – even threatening to light herself on fire – led to prosecutors re-examining the case. The convictions eventually were suspended due to flaws by initial investigators.

"Thanks to her efforts, investigators revisited the case which otherwise could have been buried," said Nong Thi Hong Ha, a lawyer for one of the freed men.

Hong says she discovered the spot on Nguyen Dinh Kien's ear the first time he visited her for treatment four years ago. He was brought to the hospital from prison, where he was serving a 16-year sentence after being convicted of gang raping a 20-year-old woman in 2000.

After seeing the spot on Kien's ear, Hong believed his insistence that he was innocent. She later examined his two alleged accomplices and began a campaign for their release. Eventually, President Nguyen Minh Triet ordered that the case be re-examined.

Investigators who revisited the case discovered flaws, including the fact that testimonies of witnesses indicating their innocence were not included in the case's files, according to the local Pioneer newspaper. The three men, having served 10 years in jail, were released in January.

Vietnamese newspapers have dedicated profiles to Hong and her virginity test, crediting her with helping to free the men while not expressing any skepticism of her ability. Earlier this week, she went on an online chat on Pioneer newspaper where readers expressed their "great admiration" for her efforts.

When Will You Hit Menopause? Blood Test May Tell You!!!

Researchers may have found a way to predict the inevitable time when childbearing years have ended and hot flashes become a daily occurrence.

Using a simple blood test, Dr. Fahimeh Ramezani Tehrani and her colleagues have developed a way to determine when a woman will reach menopause -- important information for those who plan to start a family.

To find these results, the researchers took blood samples of 266 women ages 20-49. With these samples, they measured concentrations of the hormone produced by the cells in a woman's ovaries known as anti-Mullerian hormone or AMH, which controls the development of follicles in the ovaries where eggs grow.

The researchers also took blood samples at three yearly intervals and gathered information on the women's socioeconomic status and reproductive history. The women also had physical exams every three years.

From a single measurement of AMH, Tehrani and the other researchers estimated the average age of menopause for women in the study to be about 52, and they identified a model for AMH levels that predicts if a woman is likely to experience early menopause (before the age of 45).

"The results from our study could enable us to make a more realistic assessment of women's reproductive status many years before they reach menopause," Tehrani, president of the Reproductive Endocrinology Department of the Endocrine Research Center, said in a statement. "For example, if a 20-year-old woman has a concentration of serum AMH of 2.8 ng/ml [nanograms per milliliter], we estimate that she will become menopausal between 35-38 years old."

The average difference between the predicted age and the actual age women in the study reached menopause was one-third of a year, with the maximum error being between three and four years.

This is the first study to determine this age prediction using a population-based study.

"Our findings indicate that AMH is capable of specifying a woman's reproductive status more realistically than chronological age per se," Tehrani said, which is important knowledge for doctors in helping women with family planning.

Although these results are promising, more research should be conducted involving more women over a longer period of time, Tehrani said.

Tehrani will present this study at the 26th annual meeting of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology in Rome, Italy.

Heart Wrenching Event of Mask Face Baby Being Born in China!!

Kangkang, from China’s Hunan province, is being dubbed as “mask face” baby. Kangkang, 14 months old, was born with a double face, a congenital deformity called transverse facial cleft, also known as face horizontal cleft.

His mother, Yi Xilian, says the pregnancy was normal and after all tests had assured him that the boy would have no problems. But when the woman gave birth in a hospital in Changsha, Hunan province, doctors didn’t allow me to see my son at the beginning, and I pleaded with my husband to let me have a look. Before they passed me the baby, they told me ‘don’t be sad, don’t be sad’, but when I saw my son, I collapsed,” said a crying Yi.

Dr. Wang Duquan that accompanies the chance, explains that there is only possible causes, but no certainty about the boy’s deformity: an infection during embryonic development, a drug taken by mothers during pregnancy or who knows.

Yi said 20 days after the birth she took Kang Kang to visit a big hospital in Changsha, where doctors told her that the surgery would cost around 300,000 to 400,000 yuan (between 80 and 100 thousand dollars), but the family regrets not having that much to solve the problem of his son. The surgeries would try to equate the two divisions of his face, the deep muscle and then try to reconstruct the facial bones, but cautions that the results are unpredictable.

Kangkang was born in March , 2009. He now is treated at the People’s Liberation Army’s Military No. 163 Hospital only after his family accumulated enough money for the expensive correction facial surgeries.

Uninsured Michigan Woman Shoots Self To Get Medical Attention!!

NILES, Mich. – An out-of-work Michigan woman shot herself in the hope she'd receive medical treatment for a shoulder injury. Kathy Myers says she injured the shoulder a month ago while playing with her dogs. The 41-year-old Niles resident said she's been unable to see a specialist because she can't afford health insurance.

So Myers shot herself on Thursday.

She was released from the hospital a few hours later.

Myers told WSBT-TV in South Bend, Ind., she has "no suicide wish." She says her life isn't great "right now, but I want to live."

Myers says she wouldn't do it again and now is searching for a specialist who will accept a payment plan she can afford.

The prosecutor's office is going to decide whether Myers will face charges for firing a weapon within city limits.

4 Year Old Being Called 'Miracle Baby' After Surviving 7 Story Fall From Balcony Suffering Only A Few Scratches!!

NbcMiami.com: A 4-year-old boy is lucky to be alive after he survived a 7-story fall from the 17th floor of a downtown Miami highrise hotel.

Miracle might be more like it.

The incident happened around 11 a.m. Friday, after the youngster, identified as Joey Williams, fell from the balcony on the 17th floor of the Doubletree Grand Hotel at 1717 N. Bayshore Drive.

Joey climbed over a balcony railing and then fell nearly 80 feet before bouncing off some trees and then landing on a dirt surface instead of the hard pavement, according to the Miami Fire-Rescue Department.


The youngster was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital, and is expected to be able to go home today, a family member said.

Four hours after the fall, little Joey was seen snacking on some french fries and a large soda.

"In the case of joey, the miracle baby, he is fine," his grandfather, Jerry Unawich, said. "There are no broken bones and doctors told us everything is fine. No bleeding internally. We were truly blessed that God was there with him."

Fred Joseph was on the pool deck and saw Joey tumbling through the air. He rushed over to the boy after he fell through the trees.

"Your mind doesn't want to believe what you are seeing," Joseph said.

The boy's location for a landing was almost as mind-boggling as the fall itself. Joey landed between two pipes jutting out of the ground and a sprinkler head, Joseph said. The pipes were right next to the boy's head and the sprinkler by his feet.

"How did he miss those?" Joseph exclaimed. "I thought I saw the hand of God helping that boy. It not only helped him, it landed him."

Rescue crews were equally amazed that the boy wasn't seriously injured.

Lt. Ignatius Carroll, a spokesman for Miami Fire Rescue may have had the understatement of the year: "It's amazing that he's alive."

NASTY:Man Arrested After Rape Victim Girl, 7, Contracts Sexual Disease Gonorrhea!!(video inside)

Police have arrested the 22-year-old live-in boyfriend of a woman whose 7-year-old daughter contracted a sexually transmitted disease, charging him with second-degree rape.

The suspect, a West Baltimore man who is not being identified to protect the privacy of the victim, was arrested Tuesday after giving an account of the incident to detectives in the Police Department's child abuse unit. The girl was taken to University of Maryland Medical Center on May 11 and was found to have gonorrhea.

The case was reported the same day police received a report that an 18-month-old from Cherry Hill had contracted gonorrhea. Police say that case remains under investigation.

Adam Rosenberg, executive director of the Baltimore Child Abuse Center, said the center saw 868 child abuse victims last year, the majority of whom were abused by someone known to them. He said of those cases, 20 children tested positive for sexually transmitted diseases.

"The outrage meter tends to go a little higher when there's a physical manifestation of a sexually transmitted disease, but the unfortunate side is that this occurs more often than we think," Rosenberg said. "We're seeing more younger kids [test positive], but that may be because the testing has become more reliable and much easier to do."

In the West Baltimore case, the mother said she did not know how the girl contracted the disease, and the girl did not provide any information about what happened, records show. The next day, the mother went to Mercy Medical Center and was tested for the disease.

Detectives followed up at the family home in the 1600 block of Booker Court on May 14. The mother's live-in boyfriend was home "and stated that he wanted to prove he didn't do anything so he stated he was willing to go and get tested," detectives wrote in charging documents.

While the couple were at the hospital that night, the mother was informed that she had tested positive for gonorrhea, and both adults were treated for the disease that night, records show.

The couple came to the police child abuse unit on Tuesday, and the boyfriend agreed to speak with detectives, acknowledging sexual contact with the girl, police wrote in charging documents.

The suspect faces second-degree rape, third-degree sex offense, second-degree assault and custodial child abuse charges. He was being held without bail.

His criminal record includes minor drug convictions and convictions for car theft and assault.

Alleged rapist files charges against victim in Sweden on HIV infection grounds!!

Helsingborgs Dagblad, a Swedish newspaper, reported Monday that a man who has been arrested for sexual assault, has now pressed charges against the woman, whom he allegedly attacked, for not disclosing that she had HIV.

The incident happened in Helsingborg where the woman and the man took a taxi together. The man supposedly lured the woman up to his apartment stating that he was going to give her money for the taxi fare, and it is there that the incident is alleged to have happened.

The woman claims that he then forced her to have intercourse and participate in other sexual activities. She has explained that she begged him to use a condom, but to no avail. It was only when she told him that she had children waiting at home, that he let her go.

The man, on the other hand, told the police that he had paid her 3,512 Swedish krona (US$483) as he believed her to be a prostitute and that he was both sexually excited and drunk. He told the police that the reason she pressed charges against him was that she wanted to save herself.

It is not confirmed whether the man has been infected.

Sexual assault in Sweden is punishable by a minimum of two years in prison.

Fish With Human Teeth Caught in Russia!!!

Fisherman Valery from Russia’s Southern Urals was catching fish in a small lake about 40 kilometers far from the city of Chelyabinsk. The man was fishing sitting in his boat. It was a very quiet morning, and the man was very sleepy. All of a sudden, he saw a fish net in the bulrushes.

Valery decided to pull the net out of the water. There was several dead fish in it, but one of them, which was quite large in size, was alive. The shape of its body and head was very unusual. The man tried to get the fish out of the net, but was horrified to see that the fish had a row of white strong teeth in its mouth. The teeth of the fish bore a striking resemblance to those of a human being.

The man left his catch on the lakeside and hurried to return home. He came back the next day – the fish was dead. He decided to bring the fish home and show it to his friends.

The fisherman placed the weird fish under a thick layer of salt to dry the creature out.

“I hope it will attract scientists’ attention before it finally decomposes,” he said.

Local ichthyologists said that it was most likely a bigmouth buffalo, also known as Ictiobus. This species used to be cultivated in the region during the 1980s. However, when specialists saw pictures of the fish, they could only shrug their shoulders.

A similar fish with human-like teeth was caught not so long ago in Texas. The catch weighed 6.5 kilos. Scientists said that it was a pacu, a piranha, which normally inhabits South America.

Russian ichthyologists believe that the caught fish does not represent a mutation. Such a mutation would take hundreds of years. However, they have no other explanation for this strange phenomenon.

Giant 13-Year-Old Boy Suffocates After Watching TV Show About Himself !!

Sasha Pekhtelev, a 13-year-old boy weighing 180 kilos (396.8 lbs), was delivered to a hospital in the city of Volgograd on Friday afternoon. The boy began to suffocate and had swollen legs: he could not get up from his bed for seven days.

Paramedics had to call a rescue squad to help them take the boy out of the apartment building. Sasha was hospitalized to the intensive care unit of the city’s children’s hospital.

The boy has Prader Willi Syndrome (PWS) - a rare genetic disorder. Doctors also believe that the boy most likely has diabetes.

The boy’s grandmother, Vera Konovalova, said that the boy’s health worsened after “Let Them Talk” talk show on TV, which was devoted to him.

“Sasha is a clever boy. He started crying when he was watching the show because the woman in the TV was lying, as he said. We often go out, his teacher visits him all the time, but they said on the show that the boy was not going anywhere out. They also said there that he does not have any friends and no one takes care of him. This is not true,” the woman said.

Medics have a different opinion.

“Sasha Pehtelev currently stays in the intensive care unit of the hospital because there is no bed in the entire building that would suit a person with his weight. He is in a stable condition. The child with such a diagnosis and such weight is supposed to be observed regularly. However, he received medical aid for the first time only when he was hospitalized with furuncle inflammation last year.
