American news magazine, Newsweek has ranked Ghana as 86th best country in the world, 7th best in Africa, 3rd best in Sub-Saharan African and best in West Africa in terms of health, education, quality of life, economy and good political environment.

The magazine ranked the best 100 countries in the world.

Ghana ranked 92nd in Education, 89th in health, and 84th in quality of life, 87th in economic dynamism and 44th in political environment.

Tunisia, the best in Africa ranked #67 followed by Morocco #67, Egypt #74, Botswana #80, South Africa #82, Algeria #85, and Kenya #87.

Burkina Faso (#100) saved Nigeria from topping the list from the bottom (# 99).

Japanese Men Going on Real Life Dates with Virutal Women!!!

I’m tempted to make fun of Japan, but really this is more sad than anything else. Japanese men are so scared of dating actual women, they are turning to a Nintendo DS dating game for romance, and not just the virtual kind.

There’s a game called Love Plus, where players court three different girls, and end up with one of them. In the game, the final reward is a hotel trip to Atami. But now, some players are shelling out big bucks to make the trip in REAL LIFE.

The men are real. The girls are cartoon characters on a screen. The trips are actual, can be expensive and aim to re-create the virtual weekend outing featured in the game, a product of Konami Corp. played on Nintendo Co.’s DS videogame system.

“Atami has always been a romantic place, but it is now a romantic place for a modern generation,” says Sakae Saito, Atami’s mayor.

Some devoted fans will go so far as to pay twice the rate—most hotels in Japan charge per guest not per room—to indulge the fantasy that they are not there alone. A night’s stay, at most, can cost $500 though many rooms are cheaper.

“There isn’t a lot of romance in my life and this helps me cope with some of the loneliness,” said Mr. Fukazawa with a chuckle.

Gahhh, so depressing. Since we usually get most of our tech trends from Japan, is this going to be our future here in America as well? Virtual dates with manga chicks? I’m sure some are doing it already, but if this becomes a phenomenon, I fear for the future of the human race.

Mexico: 25 Suspected Cartel Members Die in Gunbattle!!!

MONTERREY, Mexico (Sept. 3) -- Soldiers killed at least 25 suspected cartel members Thursday in a raid and gunbattle in a Mexican state near the U.S. border that has become one of the most dangerous battlegrounds in the country's drug war.

A military aircraft flying over Ciudad Mier in Tamaulipas state spotted several gunmen in front of a building, according to a statement from Mexico's Defense Department.

When ground troops moved in, gunmen opened fire, starting a gunbattle in which 25 suspected cartel members died, according to the military. The statement said two soldiers were wounded.

Authorities rescued three people believed to be kidnap victims in the raid, according to the statement. The military said troops seized 25 rifles, four grenades, 4,200 rounds of ammunition and 23 vehicles.

Violence has surged in northeastern Mexico this year since the Zetas broke ranks with their former employer, the Gulf cartel, resulting in a flare-up of drug violence in Tamaulipas.

Last week, marines discovered the bodies of 72 Central and South American migrants believed to have been gunned down by the Zetas after refusing to work for the cartel, in what may be the deadliest drug gang massacres to date. The migrants' bodies were discovered at a ranch about 100 miles (160 kilometers) from the U.S. border in Tamaulipas.

As Many as 200 Women, Babies Gang-Raped in Congo!!!

As many as 200 women were systematically gang-raped by Rwandan and Congolese rebels over a four-day period last month less than 20 miles from a U.N. peacekeeping base in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the United Nations and aid groups reported.

The Associated Press reported that four baby boys were also raped in the attacks that began in a key mining district on July 30. U.N. spokesman Martin Nesirky told reporters today the rebels blocked a key road during the raping and looting spree.

The eastern Congo is known as the "rape capital of the world" where savage mobs use sexual violence to subdue the population and vie for control of the "conflict minerals" used to make cell phones and laptops around the world.

Between 200 and 400 armed men began looting and raping women in the village of Ruvungi, which lies near a key mining center, in front of their families and in their homes, The New York Times reported.

A local coordinator for the International Medical Corps, Will F. Cragin, told the Times that when the rebels arrived, they told villagers not to worry and explained they just there for "food and rest.

They lied, Cragin said.

"After dark another group came," Cragin said. "They began to systematically rape the population. Most women were raped by two to six men at a time."

Many women were dragged in the forest and gang-raped, Cragin said. Later they emerged from the forest naked.

The perpetrators have been identified as Hutu rebels from the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda, or FDLR, which is made up in part of those who took part in the Rwandan genocide in 1994.

The FDLR is one of many predatory armies and militias that have been vying for political power and control of Congo's vast mineral reserves – including gold, cassiterite and coltan -- since the late 1990s.

An investigation into the brutal killing of two brothers in Sialkot was launched on Saturday.

Head of the inquiry committee, Kazim Ali Shah, said the report will be sent to the Supreme Court in seven days. Kazim also pointed out that fleeing of the SHO will not impact the investigations into the murders.

Speaking to the media, Mr Kazim said investigations into killings will be impartial and all statements will be listened to. He requested the media to assist in the investigations by presenting a positive outlook to the investigations.

Earlier, Sialkot SHO who was present during the public lynching of two brothers has been allowed to escape.

Meanwhile, Sialkot DPO Waqar Chauhan, SP Investigation and DSP city have been made OSDs for failing to stop the gruesome murders. Six people have been arrested so far.

IG Punjab Tariq Saleem Dogar ordered the action against the police officials after the Supreme Court took a suo moto notice of the incident.

An inquiry committee has been directed to present a report within two days.


Police held responsible for mob murders
The murder of two young brothers Hafiz Mueez Butt and Muneeb Butt, who were stoned to death during the week has led to the suspension of 14 policemen.

The suspended officials include SHO Saddar police station inspector Rana Illays, sub inspector (SI) Gulzar Khan, four assistant sub inspectors (ASI) and eight other officials. The police officials were charged with negligence for failing to curb the torture of the two men last Sunday (August 15).

Out of the 14 men accused of negligence, five have been arrested by the police so far. According to the FIR, Moeez and Muneeb were going to visit their relatives in village Buttar-Sialkot, when some people caught them and raised an alarm that they were dacoits.

The crowd tortured them to death with stones, bricks, wooden sticks and iron rods. Later, they hung the dead bodies to a tree and tried to set them on fire.

The grieved family have demanded stern legal action against the concerned police officials in this regard. “Our sons were completely innocent. They were walking on the road when they were attacked,” said the boys’ father Sajjad Butt, adding that he held the police responsible for the incident.

Sajjad Butt’s family lives in Sialkot City’s Hajipura locality. Muneeb was a first year student at the Government Murray College and his younger brother Muneeb Butt, 16, was a ninth class student at a local school.

A large number of locals have come forward to give evidence regarding the innocence of the deceased. The family added that their sons were killed in a row over an old cricket match dispute.

Sajjad Butt has urged the Chief Justice of the Lah*** High Court (LHC) Khawaja Muhammad Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to ensure the early arrest of those responsible.

On Friday, following LHC chief justice’s suo motu notice of the incident, P***stan Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary also took suo moto notice of the brutal killings. The LHC chief justice adjourned the hearing of the case for two weeks, since the Supreme Court of P***stan is also hearing the case now.

Meanwhile, District ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Sialkot Hafiz Tahir Aslam , ameer JI Sialkot City Shamasul Arifeen, former MPA Arshad Mehmood Baggu advocate affirmed that the young men were completely innocent and were merely walking along the road to get back home when they were attacked.

The Sialkot Saddar police is facing strong public criticism after the brutal killings. The District Police Officer (DPO) Waqar Ahmad Chohan after suspending the accused officials has now ordered a strict departmental probe against them. “No one will be let off. We are looking at the records of everyone in the station and will suspend everyone involved,” he said. The DPO warned that those charged with negligence would be brought to task.

Meanwhile, the Sialkot Saddar police have also registered a case against 17 accused people for torturing and killing the brothers.

The FIR has been lodged by Zarar Butt, uncle of the deceased youths. Cases have been registered against 17 men including Ali, Ameen, Aamir, Qaisar, Nasir, Jamil, Shaukat, Dilawar, Akbar and Hassan. Police have also claimed to arrest many of the accused.

Move over Mexican drug lords! In Canada they guard their weed with BEARS!!!

CALGARY -- Smokey the bear has been guarding more than old-growth forests.

Mounties in B.C. were stunned to discover a platoon of bruins standing sentinel at a huge garden of marijuana plants in sight of southeastern B.C.'s Christina Lake.

After acting on a tip about an outdoor marijuana grow-op, RCMP officers descended on the remote site about 700 km southwest of Calgary only to be greeted by as many as 14 black bears that Nelson RCMP Sgt. Fred Mansveld is convinced were there to ward off pot bandits.

"They wanted to intimidate people -- we do experience rip-offs around there," said an astonished Mansveld.

"In 30 years working in these mountains, I've seen a lot of bears but I've never seen that. ... There were big bears, little bears, groups of bears.

"It just goes to show you what length people will go in this business to secure their operation."

The bruins were extremely friendly and accustomed to surroundings made more comfortable by a steady diet of dog food.

"The bears weren't aggressive to the police officers who worked very close to them," he said.

One of the animals even climbed atop an RCMP cruiser to get a better view of the pot bust, said Mansveld.

About 1,000 to 1,200 pot plants were growing in the field.

The Mountie didn't rule out the possibility that the bears were fed marijuana.

"Maybe they mixed some pot into the food -- it's possible it's why they were so laid back ... they were just lollygagging around," he said, adding the bears had made friends with a raccoon and pot bellied pig also found on the property.

But Mansveld said the plight of the bears is no laughing matter, given their habituation to being fed by humans.

The animals are in the custody of B.C. conservation officials who'll now decide what to do with them.

"The ultimate fate of these bears is that they might have to be destroyed," he said.

"If you're really an animal lover, you don't kill the animal with kindness."

Police say it appears the bears have been a fixture at the wooded farm for some time.

It's an extreme example, said Mansveld, of a underground industry with deep, widespread roots in the area.

"It doesn't do the area any good -- we want to be on the map for the lake, hiking, golfing and fishing," he said.

A man and woman present when police arrived are facing charges related to marijuana cultivation.

There's no word if they'll also be facing animal abuse charges.

A man and woman have been stoned to death in northern Afghanistan after being accused by the Taliban of having an affair!!

The 23-year-old woman and 28-year-old man were killed because "they had an affair," said Mohammad Ayob, the governor of Imam Sahib district in Kunduz province.
"Two people were stoned to death by Taliban in Mullah Quli village late yesterday," he said. The village is under the control of the Taliban.

Mullah Quli resident Abdul Satar said about 100 people, most of them Taliban insurgents, gathered in the village on Sunday evening as a statement was read out saying the pair had confessed to their affair. He said the man was married to someone else, and the woman was engaged. "The Taliban convicted both to stoning to death, some from the crowd started throwing stones at the couple until they died," Mr Satar said. The couple had their hands bound behind their backs and were forced to stand in an empty field as their sentence was carried out, he said. A local Taliban commander, who contacted media but refused to give his name, confirmed the killings.

"The couple confessed they had eloped together and based on their confession they were stoned to death," he said.

Under Islamic Sharia law, sex between unmarried people is punishable by public beatings, while punishment for those caught in extra-marital affairs is death by stoning.

Earlier this month, the Taliban publicly flogged and then killed a pregnant widow for alleged "adultery" in western Badghis province. The killings are a grim reminder of the Taliban's harsh 1996-2001 rule, when apparent crimes were brutally punished after summary trials. As well as lashings and death by stoning for alleged adulterers, people accused of theft regularly had their hands or feet amputated. In regions that have come under Taliban control as the war drags towards the end of its ninth year, rough justice is meted out in the same manner, and includes execution of people accused of "spying" for foreign forces.

WTF?! Female German singer has unprotected sex with men without warning them she has HIV.

Nadja Benaissa, 28, was speaking at the opening of her trial in the German city of Darmstadt.

"I am so sorry," Ms Benaissa told the court. However, she denied deliberately infecting anyone.

She faces a charge of grievous bodily harm for allegedly infecting one man.

She has also been charged with attempted bodily harm for allegedly having sex with two other men who were not infected.

If convicted, Ms Benaissa faces a prison sentence ranging from six months to 10 years.

After the opening of the trial, German news agency DAPD carried a statement from Ms Benaissa's lawyer admitting she had not handled the HIV virus properly, and conceding she had had unprotected sex.

But the singer said: "No way did I want my partner to be infected."

Aids gala declaration
Ms Benaissa was arrested in Frankfurt last year, shortly before she was due to perform a solo concert, and spent 10 days in custody.

Aids campaigners were critical of the authorities' handling of the arrest and warned against a rush to criminalise the transmission of HIV, the BBC's Tristana Moore reports from Berlin.

According to prosecutors, Ms Benaissa knew she was HIV-positive as early as 1999.

A former lover, who is HIV-positive, has said the singer infected him in 2004 and is due to appear in court in Darmstadt as a co-claimant.

Last November Ms Benaissa appeared at an Aids charity gala in Berlin and openly declared: "My name is Nadja Benaissa, I'm 27 years old, I have a daughter - and I'm HIV-positive."

No Angels were formed in 2000 on the international TV show Popstars, before recording a series of hits and emerging as Germany's most successful girl band.

They re-formed in 2007 and competed in the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest, finishing 23rd.

Ms Benaissa's trial is expected to end later this month.

World's Oldest Sex Toy Found???

Long before the advent of the Rabbit, women were finding ways to get off when their hot-blooded Homo sapiens were out hunting.

And it seems that a recently discovered 6,000–8,000-year-old bone phallus, unearthed on the banks of the Göta Canal near Motala in Sweden's Östergötland province, may have been the world's first dildo.

The phallus is just over 4 inches tall and under an inch in diameter, and the Swedish archaeologists who discovered it are still unsure what the Mesolithic artifact is, but have speculated it may have been used as a sex toy.

Other excavations in the area have uncovered bone and wood objects used for harpooning, and as Swedish archaeologist Dr. Martin Rundkvist points out, "Measuring 12-by-2 centimeters, its size is perhaps not very impressive, and there are many non-dildoish uses for which it may have been intended. But without doubt anyone alive at the time of its making would have seen the penile similarities just as easily as we do today."

There is another contender for world's oldest sex toy: a stone phallus discovered in Ulm, Germany, in 2005, believed to date back 28,000 years.

Dude Claims That Punching and Kicking And Choking His Wife Was Just Part Of His Dance!!!

A Turkish man living in New Zealand said allegations he beat his wife were the result of police misunderstanding a traditional dance. Allaetin Can said outside the court building Thursday in the North Island town of Hawera he, his wife and his two teenage children had been dancing the kolbasti, a Turkish dance originating in the 1930s, in the parking lot outside of their kebab shop to celebrate a profitable day, Britain’s The Daily Telegraph reported Friday. Can said the reported hitting, kicking and strangling a witness reported him perpetrating on his wife, Elmas, were simulated moves that comprise part of the dance. “We are always dancing,” said Can, who pleaded not guilty to an assault charge. The judge ordered police to view a DVD of the kolbasti being performed and then decide whether to push forward with the charge.

This has gotta be the guy right? I mean when I first saw this video I had to pause for a minute to figure out if it was assault or just showmanship. I mean you see some of the things that goes on on the dancefloor? Jamaicans dagger that issh out of broads at their parties and theres that other one where the chick smashes your face right into her buttcheeks. Those moves are all borderline assault too. So I,for one, was all set to give Allaetin Can the benefit of the doubt.

Chinese beer carnival challenges People to down beer in three seconds to win 100,000 yuan!!!

Drink a bottle of beer in three seconds and go home richer by 100,000 yuan ($14,700). This was the challenge at an annual beer carnival in China.

Over 20,000 local people and tourists showed up for the three-day beer carnival that started late Friday in the desert oasis city of Wusu, in Xinjiang Uyghur autonomous region over the weekend, Xinhua reported.

Twenty booths were set up along the streets of Wusu, where around 30 tonnes of beer were to be given to people for free.

Wusu has a tradition of beer brewing. Local brewer Wusu Beer Co. Ltd. produces around 200,000 tonnes of beer annually and ranks among China's top 15 beer brands.

This was the third year the city has held such a carnival, which would cost around three million yuan, officials said.

Cheating wife locks husband, 80, in laundry in France for 12 months!!!

A cheating wife kept her 80-year-old husband imprisoned in a locked laundry for a year while she lived with her younger lover. The frail man was subjected to regular beatings at the house in Arrou, near Paris. He survived on stale bread and old pastries. The 45-year-old wife and her boyfriend also pillaged more than $400,000 from the husband's bank account.

The man became blind during the ordeal. He was only discovered after the wife's nine-year-old child from an earlier marriage told neighbours there was a 'smelly old man who stole food' locked up in his house. When police arrived at the couple's home, the wife initially claimed her husband was abroad, deputy prosecutor Fanny Floquet said.

She added: 'But the wife finally led them to a small laundry room in the house away from rooms used to live in and opened a locked door in front of the gendarmes.'

Local gendarme commander Bruno Arviset said: 'The victim suffered violence and ill-treatment.

'The man ate twice a day, mostly pastries that were past their sell-by date.'
A council source in Arrou said when the wife applied to marry the older man three years the mayor intially refused to conduct the ceremony because he was suspicious of her motives.

One added: 'The wife was a very strange woman. People round here thought it odd that she was married to an old man while living with her lover in the same house.' The woman, who can not be named for legal reasons, is being held in custody charged with physical abuse, illegal detention and taking advantage of a vulnerable person. Her lover and another adult son have been released on bail after being charged with complicity with kidnapping and failing to report the abuse.

Social services have taken her younger child into care, judicial sources said.

China to Build Buses that Drive over Traffic!!!

Buses that drive over traffic. I’m too excited! Good job China.

This might sound like A) an incredibly awesome idea, B) an incredibly strange idea or C) an incredibly stupid idea, but you have to admit that it’s definitely pretty useful. Shenzhen Huashi Future Parking Equipment says that it will be starting work on buses that will be able to driver clear over traffic to provide a completely uninterrupted travel experience. Construction on these specialized buses are scheduled to begin by the end of the year in Beigin’s Mentougou district.

Now if we can only get these things in the U.S. Get to work guys!

Scientists are developing a car that can go 1,000 mph!!!

British scientists think they’ve developed a car that can travel in excess of 1,000 mph. I’m sure you’re in good hands with Allstate, but I bet you buy a car like this and they wring their hands of your auto coverage.

After three years of aerodynamic research, construction is about to begin on the Bloodhound Supersonic Car which will be powered by a jet engine and a rocket with the record attempt slated for 2012 in South Africa.

I’m always a bit skeptical when dealing with automobiles with jet engines strapped to them, but maybe that’s just me.

Powered by a combination of a Typhoon fighter’s jet engine and a Falcon rocket, the car unveiled at the Farnborough International Air Show will develop 135,000 horse power or 180 times the power of a Formula 1 car.

This is the team’s last attempt in 1997 with the Thrust SSC that topped out at a mere 763 mph.

Oh, you meant a “for real” jet engine. So they have designed a pencil shaped car that has a fighter jet engine strapped to it that has to be “driven” by a pilot in the Royal Airforce? Impractical? Probably. Where do need to drive a car that could drive 1,000 mph outside of the flat and desolate highways of Texas? Why aren’t these scientists developing monster trucks that can jump 50 buses at a time? Let’s get our priorities straight British scientists!

Nigerians are able to have White Blue eyed Babies Now???

LONDON (July 20) -- Britain's tabloid press has gone gaga over a baby girl with white skin, blue eyes and a mop of blond curls who was born to black parents.

The best-selling Daily Mail and The Sun newspapers have labeled the child's Caucasian complexion a mystery, saying genetics experts are "flummoxed" by the case. But is the birth of a white baby to a dark-skinned couple really as baffling as the papers claim?

Ben and Angela Ihegboro were certainly confused when nurses at Queen Mary Hospital in Sidcup, 10 miles southeast of London, last week presented them with their daughter Nmachi -- whose name means "beauty of God" in the Nigerian couple's homeland.

Father Ben told The Sun that when he first saw the porcelain-skinned infant he jokingly cried out, "What the flip? Is she mine?" But he never doubted whether he was Nmachi's real dad. "Of course she is mine. My wife is true to me," he said. "Even if she hadn't been, the baby wouldn't have looked like that!"

Albinism would have been the most obvious explanation for Nmachi's pale looks. But, according to a hospital spokesperson, the obstetrician who delivered Nmachi told the family that doctors suspected the newborn wasn't an albino because she didn't have the pink eyes and white hair traditionally associated with the condition.

That initial hunch has led many to ponder why Nmachi was born white. Some experts have suggested that Ben and Angela might both be carrying light-skin gene variants, passed down from long-dead white ancestors. When Nmachi was conceived, she would have inherited both sets of pale-skin genes, giving her a white complexion.

"We are all of us genetic mixtures to some extent, and occasionally you'll have a convergence of the pale versions of these genes in African-Americans and African-Caribbeans who have a mixed black and white ancestry," Bryan Sykes, professor of human genetics at the University of Oxford, told the BBC.

However, both Ben and Angela, who moved to the U.K. five years ago, deny having white ancestors.

"My mum is a black Nigerian, although she has a bit fairer skin than mine," said Ben, who has two other black children with Angela: son Chisom, 4, and daughter Dumebi, 2. "But we don't know of any white ancestry."

And while this sort of interracial mixing may have been common in long-established multiethnic communities like those found in the Caribbean, it's unlikely to have occurred in a historically black country like Nigeria.

The Ihegboros, though, don't really care why their new daughter looks so different from their other children. "She's beautiful and I love her," mother Angela said. "Her color doesn't matter. She's a miracle baby."
