Woman Puts Lock of Troy Polamalu's Hair for Sale on eBay!!!

So, last week it was announced that Troy Polamalu had insured his hair to the tune of one million smackaroos, and we presented a photographic journey of his tresses.
Now Shona Holagh, a TV producer by day -- born entrepreneur by night, apparently -- is selling a lock of Troy's hair on eBay:
"During a newsroom clean-up earlier this year, I somehow acquired a lock of Troy Polamalu's hair," she wrote to tell Lemondrop. "When we had new carpet installed, everyone had to clean out their offices. People started getting rid of things they had been holding on to. I just randomly grabbed it thinking it was strange memorabilia. I took it home, threw it in a box, and forgot about it ... until now."
But when the news broke that the Pittsburgh Steeler was even more protective of his head than John Edwards, Holagh decided to put it on eBay. "I figured some crazy fan might pay big bucks for it," she says.
She just listed it today. So far no bidders.
The lock will be sold, Holagh says, in a tin box, along with this snazzy blue and white card listing fun facts about Polamalu's mop.
Her preferred buyer? A Pittsburgh fan, natch. Though anyone interested still has six days to pony up. Bid at your own risk: Whether this is a true tress -- or Holagh helped her hairdresser sweep up -- we're unclear.
Pentathletes Will Fire Laser Guns During 2012 Olympics in London!!!

While FIFA will probably never embrace technology in the World Cup, some sporting events are warming up to its potential benefits. According to the BBC News, athletes competing in the pentathlon at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London will shoot laser guns rather than the traditional air pistols used in past games. The switch reduces cost, for one, since laser guns won't use ammunition or air cartridges when fired. It will also make the sport safer, and, in turn, open it up to new venues, both indoors and out. The laser gun technology debuted in June at the World Cup pentathlon final in Moscow. After another successful trial at the inaugural Youth Olympics, Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM) president Klaus Schormann gave the technology the green light for the 2012 games in England.
With the Olympics embracing the 'pew pew'-nature of lasers, more outdated sporting events (ahem, World Cup) won't be able to ignore how technology is making the pentathlon both safer and cheaper.

The Securities Division of the Washington Department of Financial Institutions clearly doesn’t like fun or half-naked, beautiful women because they have fined the World Bikini Sports league a whopping $25,000 for allegedly selling unregistered securities and misleading investors. While there is back and forth finger pointing and accusations flying, the big takeaway from this story is the fact that now the league is in jeopardy. NO!! Co-founder Patrick Reagan said:
“It’s in limbo all the way around. A lot of the players have moved out of the area … It’s hard to tell actually who’s still involved.”

While beating the reigning king of sprints was definitely pretty sweet, Tyson is not so quick to brag about his victory:
“Usain’s goal this year was to go undefeated, not set world records. He knows what his limitations are this year, he has plenty left in the tank. Yes, it felt great to beat him but deep down inside I know he is not 100 per cent. I look forward to beating him when he is 100 per cent.”

NFL Legendary Coach Bill Cowher's Wife Dies at the Age of 54!!!

The news was first reported by the Pittsburgh Post Gazette and Bill Cowher confirmed the news on Saturday.
Her illness was not widely known. The Cowhers have three daughters, Meagan, Lauren and Lindsay. All are basketball players, like their mother. Cowher released a statement on Saturday. It read:
"Sadly, my wife Kaye lost her battle with cancer on Friday. Kaye was such a loving and compassionate person and she was the foundation of our family. Kaye was always at my side throughout my career as a player, coach, NFL analyst and, most importantly, as a parent to our three daughters Meagan, Lauren and Lindsay. They will miss their mother dearly.
Bill and Kay Cowher met in 1976 when the two were at North Carolina State. They married in 1981, when Cowher was with the Cleveland Browns. Cowher resigned from coaching the Steelers in 2007, and the family moved to Raleigh, North Carolina.
Kaye (Young) Cowher and her twin sister Faye were both basketball players at North Carolina State, Their team won the first ACC Women's title in 1978. Both went on to the Women's Professional Basketball League, where they played one season in New York and two with New Jersey.
Bill Cowher has worked as an NFL analyst for CBS since he left the Steelers, and has turned down several chances to return to coaching. His wife was a constant presence at his games, and always was waiting for him as he left the field after playoff games.
When Cowher resigned as coach of the Steelers, he said at his news conference: "To my wife, my soul mate and my friend: the sacrifice that she's made and the love and support that she has given me through the years, she's been my backbone."
Services will be held in North Carolina on Monday. The family has asked for privacy and released no information on her death.

LeBron James‘ hatred continues to spread throughout Cleveland as Great Lakes Brewing Co. has created their own special brew in the ‘The King’s’ honor. ‘Quitness’ is a dry hopped India pale ale, that manages to leave a noticeable bitter aftertaste in the boozer’s mouth after they take a few swigs. It’s definitely a fitting drink considering that LeBron completely b***h slapped an entire state with not just his decision to leave the Cavaliers for the Heat, but in devoting an hour-long special to it. The company says that about 30 gallons of “Quitness” has already been sold in the three hours it was available on Wednesday.
New York Yankees Owner George Steinbrenner Dies at 80!!!

"He was an incredible and charitable man. First and foremost, he was devoted to his entire family -- his beloved wife, Joan; his sisters, Susan Norpell and Judy Kamm, his children, Hank, Jennifer, Jessica and Hal; and all of his grandchildren," the Steinbrenner family said in a statement. "He was a visionary and a giant in the world of sports. He took a great but struggling franchise and turned it into a champion again."
Steinbrenner leaves a bombastic legacy, gleaned not only from collecting titles but also from spending money, and firing people.
"There will never be anyone like George Steinbrenner. He was the greatest owner in pro sports. He was an inspirational figure. There are not many people like him in the world. He was very, very extraordinary," Yankees president Randy Levine said.
"He wanted to win above everything else -- and that was not only in baseball but everything else," Steinbrenner's longtime friend Leonard Levy told the Tampa Tribune.
teinbrenner, heir to a Cleveland shipbuilding company, bought the Yankees in January 1973 from CBS for $8.7 million. The once-proud franchise had sunk to the second division, but Steinbrenner used the new avenue of free agency to add stars to his roster.
Under Steinbrenner, the Yankees won the World Series in 1977-78, 1996, 1998-2000 and 2009.
But in addition to the championships, he was also famously short-tempered, hiring and firing manager Billy Martin five times. Steinbrenner canned Yogi Berra 16 games into the 1985 season and, in his heyday, called out players -- even Derek Jeter -- and managers openly.
Perhaps the temperamental and demanding personality was honed by a military academy education and experience as an assistant football coach at Northwestern and Purdue.
Not long into his ownership, a New York tabloid coined the nickname "The Boss," and it not only stuck, but Steinbrenner liked it.
In 1990, Steinbrenner was banned from day-to-day operations by commissioner Fay Vincent because he paid gambler Howie Spira $40,000 in an attempt to get dirt on star player Dave Winfield. In 1974, Steinbrenner had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to making illegal campaign contributions in the 1972 presidential election.
By 1994, Steinbrenner had become a character on the popular TV show, "Seinfeld," with show co-creator Larry David lampooning The Boss.
After the Yankees ended a 13-year playoff drought in 1995, and the team was celebrating its wild-card berth, Steinbrenner told the manager and coaching staff they had better win the World Series or they'd all be fired.
They didn't, and so they were. Steinbrenner then hired Joe Torre as manager, and he immediately won three World Series in four years, restoring the pinstriped dynasty.
That led to another innovation: the YES Network, which set the standard for team-owned cable stations. With even more revenue, the Yankees outspent all other teams by a wide margin. Baseball's luxury tax was designed mostly to slow Yankees spending, although it barely did.
But after the dynasty years of 1996-2001, Steinbrenner-endorsed infighting -- he created New York and Tampa, Fla., factions by splitting up the team's front office -- led to poor decisions.
By the mid-2000s, Steinbrenner's health was fading. He collapsed at a December 2003 memorial service for football great Otto Graham and had another fainting episode in October 2006. By then he had faded from public view almost entirely.
As Steinbrenner withdrew from decision-making, general manager Brian Cashman gained control, and the team returned to the top in 2009 -- the first season in a new stadium, a $1 billion-plus palace which was Steinbrenner's final achievement. The initial season was capped with another World Series title, the franchise's 27th, and the seventh of Steinbrenner's reign.
Funeral arrangements will be private, the Yankees said, though there will be an additional public service in Steinbrenner's honor at a later date.
A Major League Baseball official told FanHouse that there will be, at minimum, a moment of silence in tribute to Steinbrenner Tuesday night, when the leagues play the 81st All-Star Game, but that no plans had been finalized yet. The New York City mayor's office announced plans to lower the flags at city hall in Steinbrenner's honor.

In an open letter to Cavs fans distributed to the media, Gilbert called James "a former hero" and his decision "a cowardly betrayal."
"Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there," Gilbert wrote. "Sorry, but that's simply not how it works."
The letter in its entirety:
Dear Cleveland, All Of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight;
As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.
This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his "decision" unlike anything ever "witnessed" in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.
Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.
The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you.
There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you.
You have given so much and deserve so much more.
In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:

Ghana's Win Over U.S. almost causes a riot within the Ghanaian Community!!!

Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg was the site of the second match of the day as the encounter featured a matchup of two of the best team nicknames in the tournament. The Stars & Stripes of the United States versus The Black Stars of Ghana. The latter playing for African pride as the only nation alive in the tournament representing the host continent.
After being the only African Nation to qualify to the round of 16, Ghana's next challenge was to play an uprising and much improved U.S.A. team. If you know anything about soccer and the World cup, the round of 16 is referred to as the "knockout" round, where the winner gets a chance to play in the next round (quarterfinals), while the loser bows their head down in defeat knowing that there won't be another match for them to play. Newspitter and it's crew had the opportunity to cover this game knowing that it was a big game for both nations with the U.S. coming of a miraculous victory over Algeria while the Ghanaian Black Stars are trying to paint their flag all over the globe by being the the first African Nation to go deep into the World Cup and possible winning it all.
Here are some moments that we were able to capture during this fantastic game that had both sides of the nation on the edge of their seats:
Ghana, Africa’s sole surviving nation in the 2010 FIFA World Cup tournament, scored first in the game. It was an early goal scored by Portsmouth midfielder Kevin Prince-Boateng. He puts the Black Stars ahead in the fifth minute after picking up the ball from Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Ricardo Clark.
This first goal sent a massive attack uproar within the Ghanaian community as Newspitter was able to capture some key celebrations from dances to possess and musical masterpieces associated with the Ghanaian culture. As you can see by these pictures below the goal made the Ghanaians feel as though they were untouchable and certainly on their way to winning the match.
Just when the Blackstars thought they had the game under hand, one of the Ghanaian defenders committed a silly foul within the 18 yard box which awarded the Stars and Stripes the opportunity to equalize the game. USA trailed Ghana in the first half of their World Cup match, but Landon Donovan scored a penalty kick goal to even the game at 1-1. A yellow-card foul was called on Ghana's Jonathan Mensah against American Clint Dempsey to set up the kick.As you can see, the only U.S.A fan joyous ride was just begining as he couldnt control himself being the only fan out of all the memebers watching the game but his ride came to an end as Ghana was able to get a go ahead goal in extra time to seal the deal.
Ghana retook the lead over the United States at the World Cup by scoring just two minutes into extra time thus giving them the go-ahead line and winning the game. Scroll down to watch 24-year-old striker Asamoah Gyan give Ghana a 2-1 edge.This game brought out a massive crowd in the bronx community in NY is where most Ghanaians reside with pride. Newspitter was able to get real close with some of these fans as they were celebrating as if they had already won the world cup. Although it was just an advancement into the quarterfinals, this game was very significant and meaningful to all Ghanaians who are proud of what they are, where they came from and their culture which can be displayed in some of these pictures that we were able to take

Wade, James, Bosh: “talked of splitting Heat cash”

Longtime Miami Heat beat reporter Ira Winderman of the SOUTH FLORIDA SUN-SENTINEL reports Tuesday morning that discussions between Heat free-agent guard Dwyane Wade, Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James and Toronto Raptors forward Chris Bosh have taken place examining how all three could fit under the Miami NBA club’s salary cap.
Newspitter has learned that the three star free agents have gone as far as to acknowledge that it might not be possible for the Heat to clear the needed space to start each of the three at the $16.6 million maximum salary that they would be eligible for in the first year of new contracts.
According to the source, the three have agreed to consider to “split the money up,” if need be. By unloading the $4.96 million 2010-11 salary on the contract of forward Michael Beasley, as well as potentially minimizing the cap hit of the buyout of forward James Jones, the Heat would be on the cusp of being able to extend maximum offers to Wade, James and Bosh. According to Winderman, the trickiest part of the deal appears to be the Heat trading for Bosh:
Bosh could be accommodated in such a scenario by the Heat either sending Beasley to the Raptors or including him in a multiple-team trade that involves Toronto. The Heat also could send draft picks to Toronto, including the Raptors’ future first-round pick the Heat currently holds, as a means of Bosh receiving his maximum contract length. How amenable Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo would be to all that remains to be seen. Colangelo has said in the past week that he was prepared to lose Bosh without receiving compensation.

According to the source, a strong sense that the three might play together next season in South Florida came together only in recent days, although it had been discussed previously by the three. James and Bosh joining the Heat would be an absolute marketing masterstroke for James and the NBA. Makes too much sense. But with so many moving parts, I’m still extremely skeptical.

But with the news that he was arrested for allegedly punching an Austin, Texas bartender surfacing, it's unlikely that you will hear much sympathy for Benson in the future. And it may tone down the talk about how the Bengals are in really good shape heading into 2010.
That's not saying that one bad apple in what has traditionally been a very rotten bag of fruit can spoil a potential return to the playoffs, but it's certainly not a good sign for Cincinnati when Benson -- who had been actively seeking a new contract from the Bengals -- is getting in trouble before training camp even begins.
The good news is that Benson posted bail and was released from Travis County jail. The bad news is that Benson was supposedly involved in an "altercation" and was being "escorted out" of the bar when he delivered the punch, according to an affidavit.
All of that, coupled with Benson's previous legal troubles while he was with the Bears, means that the running back is likely to get a call from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in the near future
Lawrence Taylor Indicted on Rape Charges!!!

Lawrence Taylor's legacy crumbled further on Wednesday when the Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker was indicted by a Rockland County (N.Y.) grand jury on six charges including rape, criminal sexual conduct and sexual abuse.
The indictment follows his May 6 arrest at a Holiday Inn, in Montebello, N.Y., just before 4 a.m. Prosecutors say he paid a 16-year-old girl $300 to have sex with him.
The former New York Giants legend also was indicted on charges of endangering the welfare of a child and patronizing a prostitute. The alleged victim told investigators that Taylor verbally threatened her and physically assaulted her after she was brought to the hotel room by a pimp, who was later arrested by New York City police.
Taylor has denied the charges. His attorney, Arthur L. Aidala, said Taylor denied having sex with the girl, who was reported missing from her home in the Bronx in March.
If convicted, Taylor faces a maximum sentence of four years on a charge of third-degree rape, a felony.
Taylor was charged in Ramapo Town Court and the indictment now transfers the case to Rockland County. The 10-time Pro Bowler and the NFL's MVP in 1986 and Defensive Player of the Year in 1981, 1982 and 1986 is scheduled to appear in court on July 13 to address the charges and enter a plea.
According to Rockland County district attorney Thomas Zugibe, the 16-year-old -- who has been referred to as "Victim-1" in the criminal complaint -- told investigators that she had been verbally threatened and physically assaulted by a pimp who drove her 26 miles to the hotel where Taylor was waiting.
"One of the most effective ways to target prostitution is to go after the johns," Zugibe said. "This indictment underscores our serious commitment to prosecuting those defendants who create a market for the region's growing sex trade."
Aidala, Taylor's attorney, stood by his client's innocence on Wednesday.
"Mr. Taylor and his legal team made a strategic decision not to present any evidence to the grand jury, including him testifying or any witnesses in his defense," Aidala said.
Taylor's longtime business manager, Mark Lepselter, told the Associated Press they were looking forward to the legal process "and Lawrence being able to move forward with his life."
Already, Taylor's business interests are suffering as a result of his arrest -- the weight-loss company NutriSystem Inc. dropped Taylor on Friday, citing his legal problems.
The accused pimp, Rasheed Davis, has been charged in federal court with sex trafficking.
According to the federal criminal complaint, authorities said the 16-year-old did not know whom she was meeting at the hotel room. The girl sent text messages to her uncle saying she was in trouble, police said. He called the NYPD, who arrested the suspected pimp once he returned to the Bronx with the teenager. The girl provided information about the hotel.

A female condom with jagged “teeth” that grips a man’s penis is the latest device developed to catch rapists in South Africa, CNN reported Sunday.
South African Dr. Sonnet Ehlers is distributing the condom — called Rape-aXe — for free during the World Cup, in a country with one of the worst rape rates in the world. The condom is inserted by women like a tampon and its jagged teeth-like hooks inside attach to a man’s penis during intercourse. Once it grabs hold, only a doctor can remove it. Ehlers hoped this will help authorities to catch offenders.
“If he tries to remove it, it will clasp even tighter… however, it doesn’t break the skin, and there’s no danger of fluid exposure.”
During the World Cup she plans to distribute 30,000 of the free devices. After the trial period they will be sold for $2 each.
“The ideal situation would be for a woman to wear this when she’s going out on some kind of blind date … or to an area she’s not comfortable with,” Ehlers said.
Critics suggest the condom puts women at risk of further violence from men trapped by the device and reminded women of their vulnerability.Others accuse her of inventing a medieval device.
“Yes, my device may be a medieval, but it’s for a medieval deed that has been around for decades,” Ehlers said. “I believe something’s got to be done… and this will make some men rethink before they assault a woman.”

The French World Cup team is in absolute turmoil right now: not only has striker Nicolas Anelka been sent home for insulting coach Raymond Domenech, and not only are they 0-1-1 and at the bottom of Group A, and not only is the team refusing to train, but the director of the national team, Jean-Louis Valentin has resigned from his position, disgusted with the team's behavior and performance.
It stands to reason then, that the only thing to make matters worse is a French journalist dropping swear words live on ESPN. Unfortunately for the uber-professional Bob Ley, that happened on his watch, when Erik Bielderman, reporting for L'Equipe, provided coverage to the "World Cup Live" team.
Video of the interaction is below, but please remember two things. One, there are swear words, and two, the swear words are a direct quote of the confrontation between Anelk and Domenech.
Quick, paraphrased transcription after Ley's introduction:
It happened outside. Raymond Domenech ... asked [Nicholas Anelka] to answer to the tactical issue. And the response from the player was, uh, go to, uh, "go to [bleep] yourself, you son of a [bleep]."
Ley, naturally, apologized immediately for the statement, as is typically of his professional behavior.
The good news for ESPN is that Bielderman was providing a direct quote, so it's unlikely anyone will get in any trouble. The bad news, on the other hand, is all France's.

Witnesses said the militiamen stormed two private homes Sunday night in the town of Afgoye, near the Somali capital, while the fans watched the Germany-Australia game. The militiamen were members of the Hizbul Islam group.
Hizbul Islam, just like its ally, the al-Qaida linked al-Shabab group, has imposed a strict version of Islam in the areas they control in southern and central Somalia.
For example, in April, Hizbul Islam banned Mogadishu-based radio stations from playing music, labeling it un-Islamic, in a move reminiscent of Taliban rule in Afghanistan.
Sheikh Mohamed Abdi Aros, a spokesman for the militants, said Somalia should respect their ban on the World Cup and focus on pursuing jihad. “We are warning all the youth of Somalia not to dare watch these World Cup matches,” he said. “It is a waste of money and time and they will not benefit anything or get any experience by watching mad men jumping up and down.”
During matches, militants patrol the areas under their control to find those who are watching Word Cup games in secret, the BBC reported.

He had been badly gored in the leg several months before, and here he was again face to face with a bull that had lowered its head and begun its determined charge.
The split-second decision for Hernandez to ponder: Should he fight or should he flee?
To cries of derision from a packed Plaza Mexico in Mexico City, Hernandez did what macho matadors seldom do: He dropped his cape, ran for the perimeter wall and vaulted over.
But not to complete safety, as it turned out. Hernandez was met by bullring officials, and the police, who arrested him Sunday for apparent breach of contract.
After paying a fine, he was later persuaded to return to what is the world's largest bullring -- but only long enough to put his hands over his head, pointing upward to the heavens, shaking his head and making exit No. 2.
"There are some things you must be aware of about yourself," the 22-year-old Mexican said later in a television interview, according to the Times of London.
"I didn't have the ability, I didn't have the balls, this is not my thing."
Hernandez later announced he had retired.
Score one for the bull, minus-1 for the matador.
