Woman tortured 6 hours in a van uses bug spray to escape!!

A woman was kidnapped in DeLand and tortured in the back of a van for six hours. She only managed to escape by spraying her attacker in the face with bug spray, reports Orlando's WFTV News.

The woman said Melton Hudson offered to help her find her missing dog on Wednesday evening in DeLand, but instead threw her into a van and beat and raped her.

Hudson had been living in the van, which friends let him use because he is homeless, according to the report.

She escaped just as Scott Gattie was driving by. Gattie let the bloody woman climb into his vehicle and called police.

"I looked back and he did step out of the van, and he saw me with her, and he kind of backed off," Gattie told WFTV.

When police arrived, Hudson told them that he knew the woman from seeing her at a gas station and that she had stopped by his van to talk.

Hudson is being held without bond in the Volusia County Jail.
