Even 20 years can't shrink the long arm of the law.
That's how long Texas authorities had been looking for Robert Dawson before the 76-year-old man was arrested Monday night at his Deltona home, where he was living under an assumed name, a Volusia County Sheriff's spokesman said.
How did he get nabbed?
His downfall was applying for a state security guard license.
The process requires submitting fingerprints and undergoing criminal background checks by both the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the FBI, reports the Orlando Sentinel.
Just a couple of days after the fingerprints were submitted, the FBI reported back that applicant Robert Evans was actually Dawson and he was wanted for absconding from supervised probation in 1990.
He was originally charged with burglary in Texas, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.
Faced with the evidence, Dawson 'fessed up and finally admitted his real name.
