Cops: Man choked 95-year-old woman in wheelchair!!

|

It was supposed to be a fun group outing.

A Pinellas County bus brought patients from the Magnolia Gardens Assisted Living Facility in Pinellas Park to see a play at the Palladium Theater in St. Petersburg.

The female driver had opened the rear door and was helping a 95-year-old woman maneuver her wheelchair onto the lift, police said, when a man jumped through the doorway of the bus, reports the St. Petersburg Times.

The man, later identified as John Joseph Lockwood , 47, said nothing as he wrapped his hands around the victim's throat. The driver tried to intervene but Lockwood knocked her to the floor.

Luckily, Lockwood then suddenly stopped, jumped off the bus and ran away, according to a police report.

But the driver's screams alerted a theater security guard, who found Lockwood nearby and held him until police arrived.

The victim was treated for minor injuries and released.
