4th grade teacher sets up “Fight Club” with his students!!!

You may want to remove this teacher from your early nomination ballots for teacher of the year; A Queens, NY teacher implored his “best student” to not fight the kid he was having a rivalry with since the teacher
thought that kid was okay. So he asked the student to fight another kid. You may guess that this teacher is in a bit of trouble.
[Father of one of the boys Tomas] Rivera said his son initially had a beef with another student when [teacher Joseph] Gullotta told the boy, “Don’t fight with him because I like you guys too much.”
Instead, the teacher allegedly told his son to take out his aggression on longtime pal Justin Stokel, 9.
“Mr. Gullotta told him, ‘You are my favorite star student, why don’t you start a fight with him instead?’ ”
During the match, the kids butted heads, leaving Stokel with a split lip and Rivera’s kid with a possible concussion.
Like in the flick “Fight Club,” Gullotta allegedly told the boys not to spill the beans and supplied them with a phony story to tell the school nurse — that they bashed their heads together accidentally as they both bent over to pick up a fallen pencil.

Even though it would be difficult to call this a “good idea” by traditional standards, I think the heavy punishments Gullotta will get probably are a bit too strong. His job was to teach these kids, and it certainly seems like he did his job. Where else are you going to learn that the best way to impress people is to punch people they don’t like in the face? It’s like when I went to meet an ex-girlfriend’s parents and her mom and dad started fighting over dinner. Sure, I could have sat there awkwardly. Or I could have slapped her mom with a piece of filet mignon and showed my ex’s dad that, “Hey, I’m on your side.” Though the police didn’t seem to agree with my explanation and this may have accelerated our relationship’s deterioration, everyone in that restaurant knew that I was a man of action. Poorly thought-out, socially unacceptable action, but action nonetheless.
