Remember Bonnie & Clyde -- the infamous duo who robbed banks during the Great Depressioin?
Now meet James Bruce.
Bruce is 73, hardly your typical bank robbery suspect. And friends say he's kind, courteous and smart. But the economy has hit him really hard.
Now Tampa cops say Bruce robbed three banks, taking only $600 each time -- to pay his mortgage.
Bruce is being held in a Hillsborough County jail on $22,500 bail and is charged with three counts of strongarm robbery. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison for each charge.
"He's trying to keep his family in their home, but you can't go about it by robbing a bank," Tampa Police Detective Rachel Cholnik said, reports the Tampa Tribune.

CATEGORIES World News | author: Newspitter
An 11-year-old Yemeni girl who was was married to a man in country's Hajja province was hospitalized today with genital injuries, said a human rights group in Sanaa.
It was the second incident involving a child bride in the last week. A 13-year-old girl died after being sexually assaulted by her adult husband. Both girls were married in the country's rural Hajja province.
The 11-year-old girl was married last year only under the condition that the adult husband would wait until she reached puberty to consummate the marriage. He did not wait, nor do many of the men who marry young brides, says Amal Basha, director of the Arabic Sisters Forum.
An estimated 50 percent of women in Yemen are married before age 18, some as young as 8.
Man, acquitted of terrorism charges, sues to become a U.S. citizen!!
CATEGORIES news | author: NewspitterIt has been rough couple of years for Youssef Megahed.
He was arrested on explosives charges in South Carolina in 2007. At the time he was with a friend, Ahmed Mohamed, who later pleaded guilty to helping terrorists, reports Tampa Bay Online.
So Megahed spent most of the past two years behind bars instead of working on his engineering degree at the University of South Florida.
But a federal jury acquitted him of explosives charges, and an immigration judge concluded that the FBI had found no evidence linking him to terrorism.
While he was incarcerated, his entire Egyptian family became U.S. citizens.
He had applied for citizenship just weeks before his arrest, so his application was never fully processed.
After his release, he and his lawyer tried, without success, to revive the application.
Megahed said he wants to become a citizen "so I can continue living here, being treated like everyone else in this country. My career is in this country. ... I think it's a good place for opportunity. A person can enhance his career and education."
Now Megahed is suing the government to get officials to act on his citizenship petition.
His feelings about the government, he said, are separate from his feelings about the American people, and life in this country. "It's different living here," he said.
Megahed said he's cautious now about the sites he visits online. The information used against him in court included logs of his mostly fleeting visits to jihadi websites and violent videos he downloaded, depicting attacks on U.S. and coalition forces.
"I think I'm being more careful," he said.
Man being sued because of negative feedback left on Ebay!!!
CATEGORIES Finance | author: NewspitterElliot Miller, of Miami Beach, defended his e-reputation.
He's suing Michael Steadman, of Cape Canaveral, because Steadman gave him a negative review on eBay.
Steadman bought a $44 time clock for his welding business from Miller. Steadman said when the clock arrived it was actually three pieces of varying models that didn't fit together and couldn't stamp a card, as it had been advertised it could. He returned it and got a refund through PayPal.
But he felt it was his duty to warn others.
So on Miller's profile he wrote: "Bad seller; he has the ethics of a used car salesman."
Miller, a South Florida lawyer, turned around and sued Steadman for $15,000, claiming he ruined his reputation and 100 percent satisfaction rating, reports Florida Today.
Steadman said: "It's not safe to say anything online. You don't have a freedom of speech. The laws don't work for us. Because I don't have the money to fight them, I'm losing. It's not right. I'm speechless."

Girl raped. Buried. Claws her way out of grave.!!
CATEGORIES life styles | author: NewspitterTHE taxi operator who is accused of abducting and raping a 12-year-old girl, then burying her after believing he had strangled her to death, has been slapped with five criminal charges including attempted murder.
The Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse yesterday said the man, Garsha Wilson, a resident of St Andrew, was questioned in the presence of his lawyer on Monday and also charged with abduction, cruelty to a child and malicious destruction of property.
He is to face the court on Friday.
The police said Wilson was held last week after a report was made to the St Andrew North police.
The police alleged that Wilson, who is believed to be a friend of the youngster, had two weeks ago abducted her while she was at the Half-Way-Tree Transport Centre. Please keep reading........
They alleged that he took the little girl to a home in Smokey Vale, St Andrew, where he raped her and then later tried to strangle her until she became unconscious. Believing that she was dead, the man allegedly buried her in a shallow grave.
However, the little girl later recovered, clawed her way out of the grave and made a report to her family who then informed the police.
Officers investigating the case said they are examining the possibility of a link to other cases, including that of Ananda Dean -- the 11-year-old girl who was abducted in 2008 and her headless body dumped in Belvedere, St Andrew.
Lawsuit: Man bit into rodent bone in can of peanuts!!
CATEGORIES health | author: NewspitterKent Weisenberg says he put a handful of Planters dry-roasted peanuts into his mouth at a party to celebrate his new Manasota Key home. He bit down into something so hard that it broke his tooth, reports the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
The 49-year-old Sarasota engineer immediately knew what broke his tooth. “It looks like a pelvic bone of a rodent, a rat or a large mouse,” Weisenberg said.

His tooth was cracked in half and there were root issues that required the skills of an oral surgeon.
Total cost: $15,000.
He thinks Kraft Foods, the company that makes Planters peanuts, should pay the bill.
He sent Kraft Foods a photo and a report from the forensic lab that tested the bone. The lab was able to determine that the bone was not in there when the peanuts were roasted. But it is coated with the same material as the nuts.
He has been disappointed with the response from Kraft Foods concerning the matter.
So Weisenberg is suing.
Weisenberg now says he cannot imagine eating peanuts again anytime soon — “It gives you the willies,” he said.
