This inmate had a booming jailhouse business -- for six days.
That's how long, authorities say, Katrina Wade managed to keep her drug business flourishing from a jail cell, reportedly selling bags of heroin that had been hidden inside her vagina to other Charlotte County Jail inmates, reports the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
Sheriff's deputies said Wade did not have a body cavity search when she was recently brought to the jail, even though the arresting detective was told she had stashed up to 100 bags of drugs in her groin area, reports the Herald-Tribune.
She reportedly got caught when corrections deputies intercepted a note that she had tried to pass to another inmate offering to “trade” bags for $5.
She was in jail after being busted in a raid that netted 98.5 grams of crack cocaine and nearly an ounce of heroin at a Port Charlotte house, reports the Herald-Tribune.
A suspect tipped authorities that Wade, 37, was “holding” 50-100 bags of heroin inside her vagina.
Wade now faces drug trafficking charges, as well as introduction of contraband into a correctional facility and possession of drug paraphernalia.
