John Lennon's Lyrics Sells for Millions!!!

|

I can’t think of a better way to spend $1.2 million than to score handwritten lyrics by one of music’s greatest songwriters. John Lennon‘s lyrics for “A Day In The Life” recently attracted a million dollar purchase price from an American collector when they went up for sale at a New York auction house. The song itself was originally banned on the BBC because of allegations that some of the lyrics referred to drug use. Clearly, people aren’t so picky these days. The lyrics, written in black and blue pen, start out with the line “I Read The News Today Oh Boy,” referring to the death of Guinness heir Tara Browne. This is without a doubt one of the cooler auction items for Beatles fans. Unfortunately, since most of us don’t have a cool $1.2 million to dish out, we’ll just have to appreciate their musical genius on more of a budget. Thanks iTunes!
