Two dudes from New Jersey calling their team Drinkin’ Smokin’ Straight West Coastin’ just got rewarded for what thousands of us did in college for free. They split a $25,000 grand prize after winning the World Beer Pong Tour. More after the jump.
So aside from being completely awesome, what exactly is the point of putting $50,000 in prize money on the table for teams with names like Drunkenballers, Drunk and Drunker, Fizz and We’re What Willis Was Talkin’ ‘Bout! to duke it out to win? Well apparently with the right amount of effort, competitive beer pong can be a respectable sport, said commissioner of the tour Sam Pines:
“No one is here to get drunk or act like fools. It’s a little rowdy, but it’s like any other sporting event. It’s all about competition and skill.”
I don’t know if ESPN is going to be quick to pick this sporting event up, but just imagine if they did. Just imagine a World Beer Pong Tour in 3D. I can smell the hops now.
