"It was unconscionable, [an] outrage, pick some adjectives and stick it in," Bloomberg said at a news conference Sunday. "The fire department, including [emergency medical services], is responsible for life-saving, and their first responsibility is to do that."

Eutisha Revee Rennix, 25, died Dec. 9 after collapsing at an Au Bon Pain in Brooklyn. Witnesses said two emergency medical technicians who were on their break ignored her and seemed more concerned about buying breakfast, the Post reported. Some said the medics told restaurant workers to call 911.

The EMTs have not been identified publicly. NY1 News reported Monday that they have been placed on modified duty while the fire department investigates.

Rennix went into cardiac arrest during her seizure and was pronounced dead at a hospital, the Post said. Her baby, a girl, was delivered and died about two hours later. Rennix left behind a 3-year-old son.

"We've heard nothing from the city. No one has called to apologize or explain," Cynthia Rennix, Eutisha's mother, told the newspaper. "Her son, Jahleel, senses what is going on. ... He keeps asking, 'Where's Mommy?' "
