Amish Man Arrested for Drunken Horse and Buggy Driving!!!

|

It might sound like something out of a sub-par episode of "Mad TV," but police in Lancaster, Penn., actually arrested an Amish man for drunken driving behind the reins of his horse and buggy. And we've got the documents to prove it. Read more and continue on.....
According to a press release provided by the East Lampeter Police Department, police received a call from an off-duty Quarryville Boro police officer on Sunday regarding a possible "DUI driver in a Horse and Buggy."

The officer suspected the driver might have been drunk since the vehicle was "straddling the center line of the roadway."

A passenger of the officer's vehicle got out of the car, approached the buggy on foot and noticed the driver, identified as 22-year-old Elmer Stolzfoos Fisher of Paradise, Penn., slumped over and asleep. He also had a "strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and bloodshot, watery eyes." A breath test revealed a blood-alcohol level of .18 percent.

Police arrested Fisher for driving (shouldn't that be riding?) under the influence and filed a criminal complaint with the Lancaster County Magistrate's Office.

Asylum has obtained the official criminal DUI complaint filed with the Magistrate that lists the "make" of the vehicle as a "horse & buggy."
