Man Rides Motorbike in Courtroom To Beat DUI!!!

|

Woodstock, IL -- A man charged with drunk driving rode his motorbike in court, not to it, according to a story by the Northwest Herald.

Carl Ahrens, 36, said he rode his Razor MX500 to prove to the judge that it was a toy, not a motor vehicle, the story said. The bike runs on a 12 volt battery, and Ahrens said it goes 4 miles an hour. Ahrens was arrested sitting on the bike across the street from his house and charged with drunk driving, as well as operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and driving without registration among other charges, the story said.

Despite the demonstration, the judge ruled that the bike was indeed a motor vehicle and suspended Ahrens' license for six months. “You can get a DUI in a Barbie car, so be careful with what you do in any backyard parties,” Ahrens’ attorney, Phil Prossnitz, told the Herald.
