Jay-Z To Give Free Concert, Talks About Marriage and How He Keeps It Fresh!!!

|

NEW YORK - Jay-Z will hold a Sept. 11 benefit concert in New York City. The New York Police and Fire Widows' and Children's Benefit Fund says the rapper is scheduled to make the announcement Monday at Madison Square Garden. He'll be joined by Gov. David Paterson, Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta and Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer. The charity concert, billed "Answer the Call," will benefit families of New York City police and firefighters killed on 9/11. It will be held on Sept. 11 at Madison Square Garden. All proceeds from ticket and concert merchandise sales will go to the fund.

Jay-Z says not everyone was thrilled when he wed Beyonce. In October's O: The Oprah Magazine, he tells Oprah Winfrey they managed to keep their April 2008 wedding a secret thanks to "late planning." He said there were "very few" close friends and family at the ceremony at his penthouse apartment in NYC's Tribeca neighborhood. The newlyweds later threw a lavish party that included Beyonce's mother Tina Knowles, her father/manager Mathew, her sister Solange, her Destiny's Child mates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams and pal Gwyneth Paltrow.

"The sad part is that we offended some," he said of not inviting a lot of friends. "But people who love you understand. Because at the end of the day, its your day."

Jay-Z, who rarely speaks about his relationship with wife Beyonce, revealed this week that the two have a date night every week at a Brooklyn pizzeria. Who dug this private morsel from the hip-hop star? Oprah, of course!
