Michael Vick is expected to play in his first NFL game since the 2006 campaign on Thursday when the Philadelphia Eagles host the Jacksonville Jaguars in pre-season action. A three-time Pro Bowl selection during six seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, Vick served 18 months in federal prison for running a dogfighting ring and was suspended indefinitely by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell when his legal woes began.
However, Goodell conditionally lifted Vick's ban on July 27, allowing the 29-year-old to sign with any team. Vick inked a one-year deal — with a team option for a second year — with the Eagles earlier this month, and now the Virginia Tech product is ready to take to the field.
